Art examine and note takeing

Photos of the exhibit and artworks will be attached. Central to the success of the project will be your ability to convey clearly both specific sensory information about the exhibit (what you see, hear, etc.) AND what you find to be significant about this sensory experience. In order to do this well, you must spend substantial time—at least three hours—observing and experiencing, and significant time writing copious notes both as you observe and after you observe. These notes are essential to the success of the paper, as they will be the record of the evidence you will use as you build your review. It is in the act of note taking that you begin to process the raw material of the experience. Photos and videos of artwork are not notes. In your notes, you should write detailed descriptions of everything you see, the thoughts and questions you have while you’re observing the art, and details about anything that is part of the experience you are having in the museum or gallery. I encourage you to ignore any explanatory material that the museum or gallery presents along with the artwork. However, if you do read any of it, you will need to take notes on it, and indicate clearly in your notes which pieces of information and language come from this material. If these ideas or language end up in your paper, you must cite them properly. Because you will not know the focus of your paper until after you visit the exhibit, your notes will necessarily contain substantially more information than appears in your final paper. You should write down everything in detail; you won’t know what’s important until you begin drafting. If you take notes properly, you will be submitting multiple pages of detailed notes. It's just notes and doesn't need to be that formal. I have written some notes already; feel free to add to it.
