This is a clear example of an effective use of the information instrument of power – explain how the US works to get its message out today – would you rate its efforts in this area to be successful? The current dispensation of globalization occasioned by dramatic technological advancements has constrained America to seek consistent and effective ways of relating to other countries. One such strategy is diplomacy, which is an instrument the government utilizes to pursue national interest. In essence, diplomacy is the official means through which the government relates to other states in a formal way (Fendrick 2012, 173). It plays a central role when America competes for influence, relative perceived power, and other markers of strength. This is because it paves the way for the state to employ peaceful approaches, such as agreements and treaties, to achieve its objectives instead of engaging combative mechanisms. For instance, U.S. diplomats have analyzed critical information and realized that the country should no longer forcibly deter China from occupying Taiwan (McKinney and Harris 2021, 24). They, therefore, advocate for more peaceful approaches to conclusively resolve the standoff
