Globalization that continues to characterize the 21st century has resulted in the normalization of multicultural teams in organizations. While multicultural teams are important not only because they offer a mix of skills but also ideas and perspectives, they also face plenty of challenges including language barriers and varying considerations on commitment among others. Based on these issues, it is imperative that a US project manager who moves into a foreign country to manage a project for 5 years implements different strategies to be successful.
To begin with, it is essential that the project manager makes effort to minimize the language barrier. This is because the project manager is expected to communicate adequately and effectively with members of the team to share the goals and expectations of the project. As such, the project manager should strive to learn the local language.
