Given that they are both forms of social influence, manipulation and persuasion may be wrongly perceived as being synonymous. Nevertheless, there exists a distinct difference between these concepts. A major dissimilarity lies in the doers' intentions. For example, when persuading an individual or a group of people, one holds the desire to change the audience's comprehension or beliefs.
