In this Small Group Assessment Assignment, you will watch a presentation (located in the Learn section of the module: week this assignment is due) of group members in a Bible study. Your task is to assess their interaction. You may need to watch the presentation several times.

INSTRUCTIONS

Draw some conclusions about the effectiveness of their interaction and the overall success of the Bible study based on the following:

• Your observations and assessment of verbal and nonverbal communication practices; roles as identified from individual communication practices.

• The number and quality of comments given by each individual.

• The use or non-use of an agenda process to guide the Bible study.

Also, identify at least one or more roles you saw each individual playing in the video. Write whether you think the role each person was playing made a positive or negative contribution to the final group outcome. Knowing what you know about the preparation, effective leadership, and group membership roles practiced in good groups, give an assessment of the problems this group had and your prescription of what they might consider doing for their next Bible study to better achieve their goal.

The first thing I can see is that their entire team sits together in a room close enough to have a clear conversation. They have plenty of notes and laptops surrounding them, which shows that the entire group is ready to use all means, like technology and notes, to come to a suitable conclusion after the discussion. The first participant of the discussion starts by telling them which parts of the book he has read. He plays the role of an evangelist as his focus is primarily on every word, and he tries to understand the meaning of every little thing in the text while going back to the initial chapters. They discuss their experience and translations of the book.
All six participants start by offering a short prayer thanking the Lord for the opportunity to engage in this discussion to make things clearer for them as they want to understand His word and connect deeper with their Lord. The lady with the glasses is the evangelist in this group discussion, while the rest of the participants seek clarification on several matters and words of the Gospel. I believe she plays a critical role in bringing the group together on the same page by asking questions and instructing everyone on which piece of the passage to turn to first. She plays a leadership role in a very subtle manner. Her instructions also direct the group's actions in the latter videos.
Every individual shows a strong commitment towards reaching a conclusion which is a brilliant observable variable as one watches their discussion. They are not merely working as a group but as a team. They value what everyone is contributing, and the entire team builds up on the discussion in a manner where every opinion is valued and given thought effectively. One of the participants reads out a phrase from the Gospel about humility and the supreme and forgiving nature of Jesus. Then another participant stated what she understood from the particular verse in the Gospel. She sheds light on whether there is any encouragement towards belonging to Christ in the particulate phrase read by the first female participant. Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship from his spirit? Both participants had a similar interpretation. The verse ends with a question, so the participants feel that it encourages them to think about what the Bible is trying to teach them. Another participant (the boy) suggests that because it starts with a metaphor, it engages the audience better. If they went back to chapter one for a better understanding of these words and to establish a good link between the message and their lives. The evangelist brings up new things she found out. There was a town with less than ten Jewish people; therefore, the town was taken by Romans, and the citizens gave Romans all rights. All these people were from different socioeconomic classes, which brings in the need for more unity for a community to thrive. There were Asians, Greeks, and Romans in that area of Philippi, which was the first church of Europe.
The brilliant combination of history has led me to observe that they are following the basic model of decision-making where the participants always focus on the history of events leading to a particular event first. They decoded the history of the verse first and then moved on with the discussion. They try to find out how the verse applies to the current situation (another part of the model), where they all try to give their opinion on how they understood the text and how it is relevant to their daily lives. They're also putting in a lot of effort to decode Paul's words. The boy also mentions that the people under persecution were dearer and closer to Christ in that state instead of the time when they were living easier lives. They did let their selfish deeds and desires get in the way. Another participant mentioned that she focused more on understanding the word choices and their meaning instead of historical backgrounds.
They aim to find the theme and purpose of the passage and decide with a consensus which one fits best with the words. These are all relevant and strong analyses derived from just a few words and the historical background of events. It shows how important teamwork is in today's world. One person's perception can lead to discovery when connected with another individual's idea or interpretation. All these discoveries will help the evangelists call ...
