Message Brief: Family initiation!
Elevator Pitch
Family initiation puts players through a challenging experience and death if one is not careful. It is set in a traditional Asian ancient family setup, and the players are the family members. Every family member goes through the experience of being initiated into the family hood or dying if they fail. It applies to sons when they reach their initiation time and have to be initiated into manhood. The same applies to their spouses when they want to marry. Their wives will be exposed to a similar exercise to be accepted into the family or die. Very few people get out alive!
The game places one player, the hero, against the rest, the villains, as they try to escape the traps while the rest ensure they fall into them. The first scene is set in a huge three-story house. The ground floor is the store where weapons are found. The hero is expected to pick all the weapons they think will help them succeed. On the first floor, the two family members are hiding with bows and arrows, ready to shoot down the hero if they fail. The task is to fight the father to death in an elimination war. The is a decoy, but the hero does not know. If they kill the father (decoy), the hiding family members will try to kill the hero while they escape.
The next step is set in the forest. The hero is expected to escape bobby traps, disarm them and kill any wild animal that tries to hurt them. In the end, two family members are hiding, ready to kill the hero if they manage to escape the death traps. The hero's wisdom (the player, in this case) is key in the game lest they die.
Positioning Statement
Family initiation target is to be a survivor and horror game like The Long Dark. Its purpose is to scare and excite sympathy depending on the player and the spectator's ability to stand extreme conditions. Technically, Family initiation is like The Long Dark because the hero's aim is to survive long harsh conditions and emerge a victor. The difference in the weapons used. Family initiation uses crude weapons, including ancient bows and arrows, blunt objects, and bobby traps used by hunters and gatherers.
