Fallacies are used in advertisements to persuade customers because some advertisements do not need absolute logic to explain the value of the service or product being offered. An example of an advert that uses fallacy is the Colgate advert which involves a tooth replica with cavity on one side, and the other side has no cavity. The advert suggests that the side with cavity does not use Colgate while the healthy side does, which is an ad hominem fallacy. The other example is the slogan that Carling Lager is the "Britain's Number One Lager," a bandwagon fallacy that aims to convince the buyer that the beer is the best because the majority think so.
