Which headline produced an emotional reaction in you? What was the headline?
Headline: Russian Forces Push Deeper into Northern Ukraine
The headline indicates that the Russian-Ukraine relationship is far from over. Russia is planning to continue with the war. The forces pushing into Northern Ukraine are a way of telling the Ukrainians to get ready as the war is far from over (Gettleman & Méheut, 2024).
Which headline produced an emotional reaction in you? What was the headline?
Headline: Israel’s war on Gaza live: Israeli tanks push deeper into Jabalia
The headline is a description of the intensification of Israel’s war. With the Israeli tanks pushing deeper into Jabalia, it is expected that more people would be replaced while others end up dead (Rowlands & Rasheed, 2024). This means the refugees in the Jabalia refugee camp would be left defenseless and homeless as they would have nowhere to live.
What emotional response did it produce in you? Use specific examples to support your response. The headline produced fear and anxiety emotions. The Russian-Ukrainian war has been ongoing for a while and has led to the deaths of hundreds of people while thousands are displaced. The Ukrainian troops are already outnumbered, which means that the Russian army moving into Northern Ukraine leaves more people vulnerable and at the mercy of their enemies (Gettleman & Méheut, 2024). Therefore, if the war has taken a significant turn for the worse, more deaths will be expected.
What emotional response did it produce in you? Use specific examples to support your response.

These people have already been displaced from their homes and lost their loved ones. This action is an indication that the Israeli soldiers are after killing people or imprisoning them. In addition, they are going after the weak, those who have lost everything, which means they can surrender easily as they have nothing else (Rowlands & Rasheed, 2024)...
