I decided to map the origins and domestications of the ingredients which was fascinating. Beef originates from cattle and was first domesticated in the modern-day Turkey and Pakistan regions 10,000 years ago (Hancock). Tuna is a fish found in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean (Fabrice). However, it is not domesticated like land animals but caught wildly. Cucumber originated in India 4,000 years ago. Kelp is a seaweed type that grows in underwater forests and along rocky coastlines all over the world (Harland). Traditionally kelp is not domesticated but rather harvested from the wild.
