Main points.
* The need and importance of empowering black women to express their sexual needs and preferences without any inhibitions whatsoever. According to Ellison and Douglas, one task that cultural ethics fundamentally do is take away from people the power to control sexuality (61).
* Identifying the problems that ail the black churches as far as the sexuality of black women goes and charting a way forward. The black churches must recognize the human body has a sacred relevance (Ellison and Douglas 62). Just as important, it must acknowledge that the body is significant to all interactions.
* Understanding the black woman’s sexual desire and agency and celebrating her flesh and strength from a scriptural perspective (Day 207). The author underscores the need to have conversations regarding the sexual autonomy of black women. To this end, the material extensively refers to the Song of Songs in the Bible.
