From the article, it is pretty clear that caring for others originates from a genuine desire by individuals to help and improve the world surrounding them. Besides, I agree with the article that the benefits of caring for others are not only witnessed by the individuals being cared for but also by the individuals showing the care. For the individuals giving the care, such benefits include experiencing good psychological well-being, including fewer depressive symptoms and higher levels of life satisfaction. Also, caring is dynamic and can involve volunteering in working for an organized group executing care roles to helping a close colleague who is undergoing some struggle. Therefore, altruism does not necessarily have to be helping a large group of individuals at a time, but it extends to helping those close to us and who are in need.
