Policy Selection-5006-Social Policy Student’s Name Institution Course Name & Code Instructor’s Name Date Policy Selection-5006-Social Policy Many African American societies have been affected by the problem of drug use since the 1970s, which made the United States government come up with tactics on how to handle the situation. For this reason, this situation has been recognized as a perfect instance of federal policy implementation and application. This assignment will explore various discrimination problems witnessed during the application of the policies, their evolution, and their multiple implications on African American societies. The assignment's analysis will focus on the proficiencies witnessed in EPAS competencies 1 and 5, majoring in ethical and professional behaviors as well as engaging in policy practice with the help of a critical lens associated with social justice. Discriminatory Problems Associated with the Government’s Step to Curb Drugs The main goal of the United States government to implement policies that will help fight drugs was to mitigate the rate of drug abuse and manage any other problem associated with its use. In contrast, powder cocaine is commonly used by white Americans (Counsel for Amici Curiae, 2021). Connecting this scenario to the NASW Code of Ethics, social justice is the best principle that corresponds with the situation. The code focuses on the importance of determining and handling social injustice activities that arise when initiating justice for individuals. On top of that, it majors its investigation on the individuals in society who do not have ways to help themselves when injustices are done to them. U...
