The requirement for the culturally sensitive and competent human service provider is relatively stronger in the culturally diverse population, similar to that in Arizona. The Salvation Army (Arizona) (TSA), being the focus of this paper, serves children and families of various ages. The two suitable theoretical lenses are utilized in the paper to show how the Generalist Theory could lead to the improvement in the effectiveness of TSA’s service methods, and, based on evaluation, recommendations are made to incorporate additional services. Finally, there is a reflection on the best practices for professionals working with culturally diverse populations. Services Provided for Various Age Groups Children and Youth In the case of children, TSA offers afterschool services especially to K-8 grades with the aim of enhancing the literacy and math skills of the high-risk children by providing them with a number of well-structured programs, including the Active Learning Program. In the case of youth with such problems as homelessness and health crises, TSA assists with its programs, trying to offer shelter, food, and hygiene-related services, which are usually modified to the more specific needs of youth belonging to some marginalized groups, e.g., LGBTQ or racial minorities (Metro Phoenix, 2025). Adults (including families) The organization helps adults, such as families in crisis, by offering temporary shelter, meals, and other important services. To be more precise, its HOPE project is aimed at making the most of its outreach to address the needs of families seeking the provision of basic necessities, but lacking the resources. In addition, the project offers referrals to community resources and medical services to meet the needs of its targeted individuals. In addition, its vast network of Adult Rehabilitation Centers provides assistance to adults with substance abuse and other addictions (Metro Phoenix, 2025). Older Adults The elderly population receives numerous programs, including free meals at their homes and congregate meals, as well as socialization opportunities designed to help the population maintain good health. It also has recreational activities that enhance a healthy experience and reduce the feeling of loneliness that tends to go hand in hand with the aging process (Lyu and Forsyth, 2021). Therefore, the older adult service model offers both basic and advanced services that support the mental health of the population and the general quality of life.
