UNRWA’s Financial Hardships
Topic: UNRWA’s Financial Hardships
Problem statement: Current and past financial hardships effect on UNRWA’s beneficiaries.
Introduction
The selection of the appropriate research approach is based upon the problem of the study, the nature of the audience, available resources, and the skills and training of the researcher (Mackey & Bryfonski, 2018). The selection of quantitative over qualitative approaches influences the kind of questions asked, the choice of methods, applicable statistical analyses, and the ultimate focus of the research study. The objective of the quantitative approach is the development of generalizations that contributes to the theory. Such developments make it possible to predict, explain, and understand the study topic.
The current study topic on UNRWA’s Financial Hardships would use the quantitative method for a number of reasons, as discussed in the body of this article. The appropriateness and effectiveness of the quantitative approach for this topic lie in the idea that the research provides conclusions and recommendations in the quest to quantify the problem and ultimately provides understanding on the prevalence and generalization of results to a larger population (Queirós et al., 2017).
Background of the Study
The researcher’s aim on this topic is to determine the existing link between the financial hardships and their impact on UNRWA’s beneficiaries. The question, in this case, asks “how may” seek to confirm a hypothesis. This calls for the application of a structured method that provides some level of consistency during data collection through the use of questionnaires with closed-ended questions. Such data provides the possibility of looking at the cause of financial hardships and how it affects the relationship between UNRWA and its beneficiaries. Thus, the data provided in this case can be used in making predictions.
Further, the data obtained from the study will be numerically providing the possibility of statistically analyzing the data, making it easier for the researcher to look for the correlation between the dependent and the independent variables in the study. Additionally, the approach requires identification of the scales of measurement (nominal, ordinal, and ratio). Such scales of measurement help in determining how best the data can be organized, especially in a spreadsheet and managed meaningfully (Basias & Pollalis, 2018).
Reasons for the choice of employing a quantitative methodology for the study
The quantitative research approach provides the opportunity for utilizing statistical data as the tool for analysis, which saves time and resources. Thus, the quantitative research approach emphasizes numbers alongside figures when it comes to data collection and analysis. Fryer et al. (2018) state that the application of statistical data in describing research and analysis minimizes the time and effort, which would otherwise be spent describing the entire study results. The calculation of data in terms of numbers, percentages, and measurable figures in quantitative methodology is done by the use of a statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) that saves the researcher a lot of energy and resources.
The use of such a scientific method for obtaining data and analysis makes the generalization of results possible. In this case, there is the possibility of generalizing interaction made with a single group. The study’s results on UNRWA’s financial hardships can easily be used to reflect the wider challenges faced by other organizations in terms of samples, contents, and patterns (Queirós et al., 2017). Additionally, the quantitative methodology provides room for the application of control mechanisms on the study population. The application of the control groups allows the researcher to split the participants into different groups providing similar teaching but different methods with respect to the factors under study (Fryer et al., 2018).
Moreover, the quantitative methodology has the aspect of “researcher detachment,” which is considered the approach’s unique part. On the other hand, this may be a weakness since it reduces the researcher’s position to be just an observer (Queirós et al., 2017). Such positions make it difficult to study the phenomenon in-depth, considering the natural settings. There is a high possibility of eliminating biasness in data collection and analysis because the researcher is not directly contacting respondents. The existence of other alternatives such as explanations, interpretations, and conclusions are under full control and guaranteeing the anonymity of respondents.
The focus of the study topic tends towards attaining a greater understanding concerning the social world of UNRWA’s beneficiaries. The approach would allow the researcher to observe the entire situations alongside the available patterns that affect the beneficiaries. The data will be objective clearly communicated through statistics alongside numbers allowing for f...
