Doublets and Triplets
There are lots of examples of doublets or triplets in English, but also in other languages. French, Italian, and Spanish all have words that developed naturally within their histories that sit alongside words borrowed directly from Latin at the same time English was borrowing them (Age of Enlightenment). Do a little googling either in English or in another language to see what you can find.
Please supply one example of a doublet or triplet. You may use the internet for help in locating these, but you must cite your source (URL is fine).

Doublets and Triplets
The fragile and frail pair is one very good use of a linguistic doublet in English. The two words have a shared Latin etymology in the word “fragilis," translating to easily broken, but through two linguistic lines. Frail is a borrowing of the Old French “fraile”, and fragile is a loanword directly out of Latin through French; these adjectives entered the language during the Age of Enlightenment when scientific terms were on the rise and neoclassical revivalism in language was in vogue. This blurring of words presents the impact of historical, cultural, and intellectual trends on language development.
