Rouge Construction aims to build a long-term relationship with stakeholders and the community through quality construction support services delivered by highly qualified and experienced experts in the industry. Besides, the company envisions expanding construction support services to the entire state of Kentucky through leadership practices and philosophy. Rouge is located in Anytown, Kentucky. It has 400 employees working as a team to offer exceptional services to its clients ranging from construction support services such as demolition and landfill to concrete services like building foundations and decorative concrete. The company’s strategic goals are to increase annual sales from $5 million to $7 million in the next four years, streamline its supply chain, and complete its service leadership training for all its employees in the next two years. In addition, the company aims to expand its construction services to entire Western Kentucky and decrease code violations to below five each year (Grand Canyon University, n.d). Based on the latter objective, this comprehensive proposal and training document provides recommendations for server and workstation requirements, storage options and, server roles, Directory Services analysis, Windows and Linux integration analysis, User and Group management recommendations, Group Policy, Computer Usage, and Restriction Policies, Security guidelines, and management practices such as performance monitor and remote management recommendations.
Base Server and Workstation
While the expansion of Rouge Construction to the entire state of Kentucky is a growth opportunity, it introduces potential security issues that need to be resolved using appropriate server and workstation configuration to counter security issues. Rather than using the traditional demilitarized zone (DMZ) physical or logical subnetwork that exposes data to unauthorized access over the Internet, it is important to have a private network and protection layers using a star topology architecture. Server Roles
Different servers and systems such as webservers, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name Server (DNS), email, database systems, and directories such as Active Directories (AD) and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) will be required to handle increasing requests from clients on demand. For instance, clients will be able to use a web browser to make requests from the server. Through the HTTP request, the browser on a client’s computer will make requests translated via the DNS. DHCP is critical in allocating IP addresses to every device connected to the Internet within the organization (Trombeta & Torrisi, 2019).
