According to Clarke (2018), although the concessions enabled the country to resolve the 1876 contested presidential results involving Hayes and Tilden, it also frustrated the rising positive racial revolution within the southern states. As a result, the author agrees that this compromise determined the foundation of the divisive racial relations in the United States for nearly a decade. These events triggered widespread racial animosity between the Whites and the other discriminated races. The consequences of this event remain even in the contemporary era through the sensitive racial relations in the country. The Jungle The Jungle represents Upton Singclair’s exposure to food manufacturing and packaging in the United States. Wesley et al. (2021) indicate that the researcher highlighted the deplorable and inhumane working conditions within the meat packaging sector. He also revealed that the unsanitary handling of such a sensitive food could trigger widespread diseases in humans. This exposure triggered a viral public outcry, drawing the attention of many legislators. Wesley et al. (2021) report that Congress passed the 1906 “Pure Food and Drug Act” following this outrage to protect consumers. Its enactment has remained influential in shaping the food industry within the U.S. through its emphasis on ingredient labeling, dosage, and other safety measures. The Roosevelt Corollary The Roosevelt Corollary, an extension of the Monroe Doctrine in the United State...
