My current relationship with food is unhealthy. As Nutritionist Eva Lahijani described, the feeling of restriction before eating and a wave of guilt after eating indicates an unhealthy relationship with food (Lahijani, 2015). The restrictive cycle pushes me to go on dieting and stop eating in large quantities to control gaining more weight. But this restrictive cycle is followed by the cycle of binging. Eva Lahijani describes binging as uncontrollable eating after dieting (Lahijani, 2015). I have experienced frequent episodes of binging, which often leads me to consume food with high sugar and fats. After binging, I experience guilt and shame. This cycle, outlined by Eva Lahijani, perfectly describes my relationship with food. From restriction to guilt, I have been struggling to control my appetite for high-calorie food. But I fail every time, and now I am gaining weight continuously, which reflects that I have an unhealthy relationship with food.

I want to change my relationship with food because it feels like I am doing injustice with my body failing to control my appetite. The failure to control my appetite has led to feelings like looking at food as comfort (Vogel, 2023). Owing to my unhealthy relationship with food, it became my primary source of ease in times of stress. This stress eating has led me towards social isolation.
