Stress is a regular and unpreventable occurrence that affects almost every aspect of people’s existence, including the relationship between an individual and food. Recognizing the link between stress and food is especially important when addressing these issues. In her empowering TEDxUCLA talk, Lahijani (2015) urges people to trust their hunger and make peace with food to discover that stress and other emotional factors might mess up their hunger cues.
Two Stressors I Currently Have
Two significant issues that affect me are academic pressure and financial issues. The pressure to perform well academically, such as in tests, assignments, and other exams, plus the challenge of ensuring that one gets good grades, puts a lot of pressure on a student. This pressure is further influenced by deadlines and perceived failure to meet the expected academic standards, which may sometimes be beyond a learner's control. Another vital stressor is financial issues. The daily costs of tuition, books, and living on campus are overwhelming, especially when trying to accommodate employment. This anxiety is magnified by the unpredictability of financial security in the future, whether addressing student loans or possible employment opportunities.
