The American nursing association is one of the most prominent nursing organizations in the United States (American Nurses Association, 2010). The organization was created to protect the interests of millions of registered Nurses within the country. It is focused on improving the nursing profession and the healthcare services and outcomes countrywide.
Organizational structure
An organizational structure is paramount to achieving the set organizational goals and objectives. In this respect, ANA utilizes the hierarchical organizational structure. The management consists of a board of Directors, a House consisting of Delegates and additional committees, taskforces, and councils (American Nurses Association, 2010). The Board of Directors foresees the organization’s overall functioning, while the House of delegates creates the policies governing the organization and its members.
Purpose and Mission Statement: The primary purpose of the ANA is to promote the welfare of all registered nurses within the United States. It ensures that the members have a voice in healthcare policy decisions (American Nurses Association, 2010). The mission statement is to advance nursing practice so that every individual can benefit from the healthcare services provided, promoting a safe and ethical working environment, and advocating for the well-being and health of all nurses.
