Question: offer a brief response to peer 2 discussion below with at least one original peer-reviewed article within the last 5 years. No more than 2 paragraphs. All references correctly must be cited in APA style. Please observe conventions of APA style as outlines in chapters two and three of the APA manual. Please refer to your APA Manual for proper APA style wring. In APA, you make a statement that verified in the literature and cite. Avoid making your posts article reviews. I am not looking for a summary of an article. I am looking for new ideas to a topic from peer-reviewed articles. If you rehash and reiterate something that was already stated in a post or something basic that we all already know, then you will not gain points. Do not state whether you agree or not. I am not interested in your opinions; I would rather you write something interesting. You are not writing social media and opinion pieces. Your posts should be free of bias and opinion. Avoid adjectives like "crucial" and "critical" etc. because in APA, those words must be defined, and because they seem opinionated and biased. Merely state findings and facts. Avoid exaggerated comments to your peers like "that was excellent." Just thank them and write your contribution. If your posts are just repeats of nothing new and filling up white space, then you will not gain points. I do not like fluff. The effects of stress and burnout on clinical decision making Stress and burnout are common experiences that psychiatric mental health providers experience. Burnout is defined as an emotional and physical exhaustion due to excessive stress, feeling overwhelmed and emotionally drained. Burnout can have physical, social, and emotional impact on the quality of life of the provider. Chronic workplace stress that is not successfully managed can reduce professional efficacy and make the provider feel negative and unproductive (Gaston-Hawkins et al., 2020). The primary stressors that psychiatrists identified were that there were increased emotional work with their patients and having to stay up to date with current regulations and protocols (Vogt et al., 2019). The implication of burnout can relate to clinical decision making. The workload of the providers is the common factor that contributes to the physical demands related to emotional exhaustion. It has been studied that provider who worked fewer than 35 hours per week experienced less emotional exhaustion than those who worked more than 35 hours per week (Yang & Hayes, 2020). Burnout can affect patients as well as the providers, which associates with increased risk of depression, substance abuse, or suicide. Provider burnout can cause decreased productivity or medical errors (Jankovic & Chen, 2020). Providers fatigued from their workload can cause mishaps and errors in practice, which affects the clinical outcome of their job.
