Problem Statement

The problem research addressed is the need to ensure that physical education and nutrition awareness is introduced among university students given that they are at their initial stages of being independent.

Purpose Statement

The study’s purpose is to evaluate the need to ensure that a web-based wellness platform is developed for first year university students on perceived stress, diet quality and quality of life based on their physical activity. The research seeks to evaluate how creating the web-based platform helps in guaranteeing an effective way to ensure that university students are monitored on how they get information and act on it from the platform on how to engage in good nutrition and physical activity.

Research Questions

The research by Trottier et al. (2021) seeks to answer the following research questions:
* What is the impact of a web-based platform on first year students that addresses stress?
* What is the platform’s impact on the student’s diet quality and physical activity?

Define Hypothesis

The research is based on the hypothesis that a web-based platform offers positive results on sharing awareness on nutrition and physical activity among first year university students given that the students are a highly technology and information oriented generation.
The null hypothesis is ‘the web-based platform has no impact on the nutrition and physical activity awareness in first year university students’. On the other hand, the alternative hypothesis is ‘the web-based platform has considerable impact on the nutrition and physical activity awareness in first year university students’.

Identify Dependent and Independent Variables and Type of Data for the Variables

The study conducted by Trottier et al. (2021) illustrates that the web-based platform is the independent variable while diet quality, perceived stress, quality of life and physical activities are the dependent variables. The web-based platform influences the diet quality, perceived stress, quality of life and physical activities of the first-year university students.
The research utilizes quantitative data to evaluate the impact of the web-based platform through questionnaires presented to the ninety-seven first year university students.
