Importance of Learning About the Target Market

Coursework Instructions:

In your initial post, briefly introduce yourself to your peers. Along with your introduction, share your career goals, such as the type of company you hope to work for or the job role that you seek.

Next, consider the examples of "marketing gone wrong" that you read about in the module resources, and answer the following question: How can learning about the target market before making any marketing plans help to avoid these kinds of failures? Be as specific as possible.

Now, think about the marketing you have seen or heard for breakfast foods. Name a specific breakfast food you recently purchased and what it was about that product's marketing that drew you in. For example, was it the packaging, the health benefits, or even the price?

In your replies to at least two peers, comment on whether the marketing for the breakfast foods they selected appeals to you or not, and explain why.

See below the two peers discussion I need to replied to each of then is part of this homework.

Hello, my name is I, I'm 21 and recently served in the U.S Army. I enrolled in SNHU to earn my business degree to expand my knowledge and use my education to improve my family's business.

Identifying and focusing on the target market as the first is in place as the first step to avoid "marketing gone wrong" a lesson learned when Ford Edsel was released. When creating this car/brand they failed to consider the target market leading to their short term of 3 years on the market. Taking the initiative to research the consumer can insure that the product launch will be successful

The most recent breakfast product I've purchased is Kellogg's Eggo frozen waffles. Waffles to the rescue as advertised accurately describes them. As someone who occasionally likes a quick breakfast for fast-paced mornings, these are quick and perfect. Along with the fair pricing on this product their brand also offers a variety of flavors and shapes.

Hello all! Happy Monday. My name is BB. I am currently a Project Manager for a General Contractor in Texas & we build Multifamily & Commercial Buildings. I am working on finishing my degree (Business Admin) as life happened and it fell towards the backburner of my priorities. I currently live in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. A few things about me; I have 2 wonderful children & Army vet from 09'-14'.

Sometimes when companies put items on the market and it goes south fast, in my opinion it isn't about the marketing ploy but more of the wrong push of an item at the wrong time. Timing of delivering of a product is key! Especially if you are trying to compete with another brand with a similar product. I think the failure comes in pushing a product too early and marketing fails in order to compete and fall even further behind. I personally believe waiting for a complete product and over market longer than normal before the release of a product will push people to be more interested by waiting longer than usual.

I don't really eat or buy breakfast, but I did have Peanut butter and sliced apples this morning from the cafe at work while I ordered my Quad coffee. I got suckered into it I suppose. The way it was packaged in a cup within a cup to keep the freshly sliced apples away from the creamy peanut butter. I don't know what came over me, but I thought dang! that looks pretty good. I know for a fact if that wasn't visible to my eye or if I saw an unsliced apple that wouldn't market to me as a purchaser at that time this morning.

Learning about the target market is integral to developing marketing strategies that align with the needs of the customer. Carrying out an analysis of the target market helps a company understand whether there is a need for a product. In essence, with a knowledge of the target customer, a company is bound to develop the right product attributes in terms of appearance, pricing, and utility. The chances of getting it wrong with an extensive analysis of the target market are minimal.
