Zayid’s (2014) TED speech is a genuinely and hilariously autobiographical talk about her life as an Arab-American woman with cerebral palsy. Zayid starts off doing this by making self-deprecating remarks and making fun of her disability as well as the situation of her birth, which is a very humorous way of expressing her feelings. She is the one who blazes the trail with her straightforward and uncompromising way of discussing cerebral palsy, which is at the core of the speech, hilarious at the start, and becomes heart-touching. In fact, by the end of the talk, Zayid (2014) shares her experiences as a kid, her family life, and how she chose an entertainment career; however, she also talks about the societal stigma and the challenges that the disabled face. She can handle any moment well, even the difficult ones, and she has an outstanding sense of humor that is complimented by the timing and the delivery. The aspect that stays with us, the writers, is Maysoon’s ability to overcome her disability and her refusal to just fit in the limitations that disability puts on her. Her mother tells her how her parents taught her in her childhood that she could do everything, from walking to her aspiration of acting (Zayid, 2014). The unique techniques Maysoon’s father adopted (for example, using $1.00 as an incentive to walk), in addition to the everlasting support of Maysoon’s parents, are a reflection of her inner strength and perseverance.
