Organizational Workplace Communication and Processes in the Show "30 Rock"
Hello:
This journal is just a part of this "big project". You don't need to watch the whole season of 30 Rock, just watch a few episodes and answer these questions. What you need to complete is Org Com Observations #2. I will upload my previously completed Org Com Observations #1.
1. What are you seeing in your observation so far?
2. What are some initial recommendations you feel might be applicable?
3. Is there potential for improvement within this organization?
Below is the introduction of the big project:
This is your official “big project,” in which you will utilize NBC’s Peacock Streaming service https://www(dot)peacocktv(dot)com The service is free for a basic membership, which is what you will need. It only requires using an email and creating a password (feel free to create a temp email, if preferred). You will choose 1 complete season of one of the following shows:
30 Rock
Parks & Recreation
Superstore
The Office
You will watch the season from the perspective of an outside observer/management consultant who has been brought in to do an analysis of the organizational workplace communication and processes (i.e. employee dissent, morale, internal communication, collaboration, leadership, etc…etc…) You will provide a deliverable/report of the quality expected from a consultant to a client. This is not a review or narrative essay rehashing “what happened” during the season. You will approach this as a real organization, with real employees and real issues.
You will be expected to integrate well-cited and clearly explicated organizational theories into your analysis as well as clear examples of success/failures from your observations in order to justify your recommendations for improvement or affirmation of areas of competence.

“What are you seeing in your observation so far?”
There are serious issues that the directors of 30Rock explore across various episodes of the shows that I have seen. I recognize the embracing of a weird sense of humor among the actors with the injunctions of real-world issues amidst the laughs. Among important points that stand out in my observations are alcoholism, America's political divide, grief, and harmful stereotypes (Aboramadan et al., 2019). The discussed central issues are significant in workplace communication to get a cohesive workforce and achieve organizational goals.
As an outside management consultant in organizational workplace communication, 30 rock exemplifies interaction among colleagues. Effective corporate interaction should be done on a lighter note to ease the tension between leaders and subordinate staff (Knight et al., 2016). The film has a tremendous impact on how individuals communicate with each other, especially in an organization. Whenever a character in the movie, Liz Lemon, does something ridiculous, it often relates to various people watching the show. However, it does not offend most of them since it occurs light-heartedly. Notably, the show communicates important organizational and workplace issues through comedy and, in turn, instills essential morals.
“What are some initial recommendations you feel might be applicable?”
The show could have concentrated on significant issues affecting society at an intense level. Instead, the show focused on grief and adoption issues and insisted less on the real issues influencing organizational relationships. Factors such as stereotypes of racially different people were a straightforward issue considering they had an African American actor to help with the casting (Assens-Serra et al., 2021). Tracy finds himself at odds with Toofer in season one, where the latter takes offense at Tracy's style of comedy. The episode brings out vaguely the idea of black comedians pandering to stereotypes to entertain the audience but not to the required standards. Implementing inclusiveness in an organization without worrying about a...
