I will focus on “the effect of fake news in the public relations field.” Fake news has been around since the invention of the media. Over the years, technological advancement has led to the growth of media. Fake news has continued to grow with the availability of cheap and easy ways to the public. Public relations exist to use the media to inform individuals about a brand or an individual. As people’s trust in the media continues to decline, the work of PR practitioners is affected. Hence, it is critical to examine how fake news affects the PR space.
I will involve both internal and external stakeholders. Fellow students would act as my colleagues. Since they are also in the communication field, they wil help me understand how fake news is affecting them. I will focus on journalists, industry experts, and key opinion leaders for external stakeholders. I will reach out to the three stakeholders to understand how fake news adversely affects their work.
