Kate Dubinski depicts that many hospital staff have to deal with aggressive and violent patients at some point in their careers. As such, the University and Victoria hospitals control such risks by activating Code White, offering workplace violence training to employees, debriefing sessions, screening patients for violent behaviors, putting security personnel at high-risk areas, and ensuring that patients are not armed (Dubinski, 2023). 2 Identify and describe what “type” of violence nurses are facing in Ontario hospitals, according to the article. Identify and explain two factors that put them at increased risk of experiencing this type of violence at work. One of the factors that puts caregivers at increased risk of this type of violence at work is the lack of appropriate training on how to handle aggressive patients.
