The plot of this story happens in South Chicago and is mainly composed by a Black family. They story revolves around the family and the members’ dreams, as well as how they use their father’s insurance payout to reach their dreams.

While reading, one thing that piqued my interest was the presence of the discrimination among people of colors. Even though the story’s plot happened after the passage of the 14th amendment, several systemic acts of racism is still present.

I heard that this play has garnered a lot of awards back in the days. Upon an initial reading of the text, the readers would be aware that each character has his own individual dream. I believe that the complexity of their personalities in relation to their dreams is one of the most interesting aspects of the story.
