Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a brain disorder with serious short and long-term repercussions to those suffering from it including their immediate close relatives and the society. The cause of disorder is both by genetic and environmental factors (Chapter 8: Schizophrenia). Schizophrenia disorder affects the patient by altering the victim’s thoughts, feelings, perception and behaviour. There are two categories of symptoms exhibited by this disorder namely; positive and negative symptoms. Positive symptoms, also known as psychods, include delusions, hallucinations and disorganized thinking while negative symptoms include self-neglect, social withdrawal, lack of motivation and emotional apathy.
