Poor people dont have oppetunities Literature Annotated Bibliography
This third assignment requires you to create an annotated bibliography in two-parts. The first part is to create a general bibliography of twenty resources. These resources can be from any variety of five kinds of sources (books, journals, newspaper articles, databases, or websites). You must, however, have at least two of each of the five types of sources. For each one of these twenty resources you need to list a bibliographic entry in proper MLA or APA style. (We will review proper MLA/APA style formatting in a class next week.)
The second part of the process is taking ten of those twenty resources you identified in step one and creating annotated bibliographic entries for them. For this part you may do any combination of the five types of resources, but there must be at least one of each of the five types.
Each of the ten entries in the second part of this assignment must have three parts: the bibliographic entry, at least three-to-five sentences summarizing the resource, and three to five sentences evaluating the worth of the resource for your research paper.

Article # 1: Alvarez, Sharon A., and Jay B. Barney. "Entrepreneurial opportunities and poverty alleviation." Entrepreneurship theory and practice 38.1 (2014): 159-184.
This article provides that not all entrepreneurial activities contribute to economic growth. As a result, there have been policies to improve human capital, access to finances, and property protection rights, which have been used in reducing poverty. Entrepreneurs have taken initiatives to reduce the rate of poverty at the international level. This article finds out that the level of success in these efforts vary greatly, as some may not lead to success. There is a need for further research on the need for the creation of self-employment opportunities to reduce the level of poverty.
Article #2: Hanlon, Charlotte, et al. "Challenges and opportunities for implementing integrated mental health care: a district level situation analysis from five low-and middle-income countries." PloS one 9.2 (2014).
This article looks at the challenges that are experienced in the implementation of integrated mental healthcare. Besides, it delves into the importance of having mental healthcare in place to reduce suffering among middle-income citizens. However, further research needs to be carried on the role of NGO in helping to reduce mental suffering among middle-income earners. This paper is inadequate and must use other studies for literature review.
Article #3: Jain, Anil K., Karthik Nandakumar, and Arun Ross. "50 years of biometric research: Accomplishments, challenges, and opportunities." Pattern Recognition Letters 79 (2016): 80-105.
This paper looks at the challenges that the poor have experienced in efforts to have their biological and behavioral characteristic be recorded. Biometric data include voice, fingerprint, face, and iris. It finds out that the data obtained during registration may be used for the wrong reasons by malicious individuals, who will end up breaching the privacy of participants. Further research needs to be conducted on how government and concerned organizations have been able to handle privacy issues.
Article #4: Jouzi, Zeynab, et al. "Organic farming and small-scale farmers: Main opportunities and challenges." Ecological Economics 132 (2017): 144-154.
It looks at the opportunities and challenges that organic farming and small scale farmers have experienced in the past. The paper finds out that small scale farmers do not employ the use of modern technology in their operations. Further studies should be carried to determine the efforts taken by the government to ensure that the welfare of small scale farmers has been improved.
Article #5: Kanashiro, Patricia, and Mark Starik. "Business efforts, opportunities, and limits addressing the poor: A Brazilian case study." Business Horizons 59.5 (2016): 471-479.
It looks at how the business provides an opportunity for peace. It uses the case study of poor communities in Brazil that were previously characterized by violence. It provides a conclusion that a business must use integrated approaches in dealing with extreme poverty, which will, in turn, reduce the rate of violence. However, there is a need for further research on how violence and poverty are related.
Article #6: Salami, A., Kamara, A. B., & Brixiova, Z. (2017). Smallholder agriculture in East Africa: Trends, constraints and opportunities. African Development Bank Tunis, Tunisia.
This paper looks at the economic trends, issues and opportunities that have been facing small scale farmers in the East Africa region. It provides that the government has not taken concerted efforts to curb the rate of poverty and open opportunities for farmers to improve their lives. There is a need to supplement the paper with other studies so that we can compare how other governments in other parts of the world have taken good measures to prevent challenges that their small scale farmers were experiencing.
Article #7: Shah, Manisha, and Bryce Millett Steinberg. "Drought of opportunities: Contemporaneous and long-term impacts of rainfall shocks on human capital." Journal of Political Economy 125.2 (2017): 527-561.
This study employs the use of the simple human model in discussing how higher human wages have a significant effect on the production of human capital. It found out that higher human capital is increased is the early stages of life but may decrease from age between six and five. Children from poor nations may be involved in work when there is increased rainfall. It concludes that children play an important factor in determining human capital investment. However, this paper needs to be supplemented by other literature because it does not reveal the risk involved when working with children.
Article #8: Surendra, K. C., et al. "Biogas as a sustainable energy source for developing countries: Opportunities and challenges." Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews 31 (2014): 846-859.
