Introduction
Human civilization has evolved significantly over the years. Modern human ways of life, including culture, traditions, religion, food, art, and architecture, are different from those of the previous century. Through innovation, people have developed ways of gaining the most from their daily life activities. For example, it is the wish and dream of everybody to be able to come home and feel relaxed and comfortable after the day's activities. However, people develop anxiety and feel more stressed due to untidiness, disorganization, and dirt in their rooms. Various studies link untidy and disorganized homes with increased chances of developing depression symptoms and even make one ill. A home should be the most convenient place to relax and recover from the whirls of the outside world. Also, the feeling of relaxation in a room highly depends on its lighting, space, and design. Modern architecture has adopted the concept of minimalist interior design that uses simple, peaceful and orderly spatial room arrangements to create a relaxing environment. The minimalist interior design creates a sense of clarity and richness of simplicity in a room through reduced clutter and interior simplification.

According to the article, the minimalist trend in art and architecture emerged during the late 1990s and early 2000s as characterized by a tendency towards simplified living space and forms. The concept of minimalism was later adopted in interior designing. Typical features of minimalist interior design identified by the author include the use of basic geometric shapes, lack of detail, large spaces, wood and natural textures, and achromatic colors. The article’s author, Tatyana Valentinovna Gudkova, is an architect from Novosibirsk State Academy of Architecture and Arts, Russia. The purpose of the study was to identify the social benefits attributed to the various elements of minimalism in architectural designs. In other words, the author aimed to illustrate how minimalist designs improve the quality of life among users. This is achieved through analyses and comparison of various authentic features of minimalist architecture from different authors. The article then proceeds to compare and match those features with the social benefits demanded in modern society. Further analysis indicated that the spatial organization of a minimalist space indeed influences several social aspects experienced by its occupants. For example, the article associates freedom with open space, security or autonomy with closed space, wealth, status, and prestige with large space, and naturalness with space, among others. The article provides basic information, to both architects and civilians, about interior design that can be organized to meet the interests of the users.

Through its various sections, the book examines how architecture, modernity, and domesticity influenced interior design over the years. From an architectural perspective, the interior design emerged from decoration, the literal covering of the inside of an architectural shell with the soft stuff of furnishing. The various forms of interior design were influenced by different socioeconomic and environmental factors from different parts of the world. Elements of modernity including experience, historical events, and knowledge about subjectivity can change the form and nature of the interior design. Lastly, the author argues that interior designs are subject to domesticity. In this case, domesticity is the perception of the home which creates and recognizes one's experience and associations. Therefore, the interior design reflects the basic social needs and interest of the people. The three elements are critical when attempting to understand the core drivers of the minimalist form of interior design concerning modern civilization.
