Music History of Renaissance Period
Annotated Bibliography
Introduction
Renaissance is a period that began in 1500 and concluded in 1600, and his school of thinking changed drastically from the theological and mystical aspirations to the concentration of human connection. The changes of the transition to the musical era must be understood, as they form and mark the music business presently in existence. In early childhood Gigolo Canine (1551-1681), for instance, began to write his first opera. It now has operas in many cultures around the world.
Abdounur, Oscar João, and Tânia Baier. "MATHEMATICAL MEANS IN MUSIC AND ARCHITECTURE UP TO THE RENAISSANCE." International Journal of Mathematics, Game Theory, and Algebra 28, no. 2/3 (2019): 143-151.
The objective of this article is to demonstrate the relevance of mathematical techniques related to the renaissance to the function of the Pythagorese musical history.. It consists of theorists such as Pythagoras and Archytas, the Romans Vitruvius, and the Italian Renaissance Alberti, Zarlino, and Palladio. The discovery of Pythagoras about monochords marks the birth of mathematical science.[Abdounur, Oscar João, and Tânia Baier. "MATHEMATICAL MEANS IN MUSIC AND ARCHITECTURE UP TO THE RENAISSANCE." International Journal of Mathematics, Game Theory, and Algebra 28, no. 2/3 (2019): 143-151.]
Abdounur, Oscar João. "The emergence of the idea of irrationality in Renaissance theoretical music contexts." (2015).
This article looks at the connections of mathematics with music as a result of developments in the Renaissance understanding of music. West music was formed by depending on a cosmological-mathematical-speculative model that concentrates its attention on the rational activity of speculation, on a model that focuses mostly on the quality of the sound itself and the laws and effects on human beings..[Abdounur, Oscar João. "The emergence of the idea of irrationality in Renaissance theoretical music contexts." (2015).]
Allen, Aaron S. "Music and Musicians in Renaissance Cities and Towns." Journal of Interdisciplinary History 33, no. 4 (2003): 609-611.
Historians and musicologists have high time to share thoughts without sophisticated terminology or disciplinary jargon in an available language and still to give acute insight into the history. The music, the musicians, and the participation of 14 students from different fields in the renaissance cities and towns are a good beginning in this direction.. Historians of early modern music with interests are certain to gain from the methodologies of urban history. However, historians from history and interdisciplinary scientists from many other areas would also welcome the book that has much to say on the cultural/artistic backgrounds in periods, places, and individuals from traditional historical research.[Allen, Aaron S. "Music and Musicians in Renaissance Cities and Towns." Journal of Interdisciplinary History 33, no. 4 (2003): 609-611.]
Bank, Katie, and Matthew Thomson. "Medieval and Renaissance Music Conference, Maynooth, 5–8 July 2018." (2018): 706-707.
The necessity for a scholarly voice that takes into consideration the influence of our education and research on public discourse is more crucial than ever in today's political context. However, such a voice is not always acceptable, as is seen in the recent replies to the statements made by Professor Mary Beard on the Roman British racial variety.. The Medieval and Renaissance Music Call for papers at Maynooth, Ireland was, therefore, timely in favor of submissions that pondered how our teaching and academics may question medieval, renaissance, and Christian narratives universally male, white, and Christian.[Bank, Katie, and Matthew Thomson. "Medieval and Renaissance Music Conference, Maynooth, 5–8 July 2018." (2018): 706-707.]
Bassler, Samantha. "Plague and Music in the Renaissance, by Remi Chiu." (2020): 397-401.
Remi Chiu's plague and music is a notable contribution in the study of Early modern music, which extends our understanding of music and health, sickness, and medicine as well as shows the complexity of Renaissance ideas about music and medicine amid the severe outbreaks of the plague..[Bassler, Samantha. "Plague and Music in the Renaissance, by Remi Chiu." (2020): 397-401.]
Bornstein, Andrea. "Two-part didactic music in printed Italian collections of the Renaissance and Baroque (1521-1744)." Ph.D. diss., University of Birmingham, 2001.
Double-part compositions were among the main ways during the Renaissance and Baroque years by which music was taught.t, therefore playing a major role in the training of both amateur and professional players.[Bornstein, Andrea. "Two-part didactic music in printed Italian collections of the Renaissance and Baroque (1521-1744)." Ph.D. diss., University of Birmingham, 2001.]
Bukofzer, Manfred F. "Changing Aspects of Medieval and Renaissance Music." The musical quarterly 44, no. 1 (1958): 1-18.
The virtually completed manuscript of a talk that he had prepared for the 1955 Oxford Convention of the International Musicological Society was unearthed among the archives of our late and very missed colleague Manfred Bukofzer.. He could neither attend the meeting already hit nor complete the paper; nevertheless, it is fairly reasonable in its current condition, and only the last paragraph appears to be lacking.[Bukofzer, Manfred F. "Changing Aspects of Medieval and Renaissance Music." The musical quarterly 44, no. 1 (1958): 1-18.]
Chan, Eleanor. "Picturing Music in the English Renaissance." British Art Studies 23 (2021).
Music was deeply visual in the early modern age. Not just in the theatrical extravaganza, the masks, the courtyards, and the playhouses, but also because of the first "read" music. This article tries to bridge the gap between the understanding of art history in Renaissance England and the understanding of musicology. In doing so, it is aimed at establishing a discussion.[Chan, Eleanor. "Picturing Music in the English Renaissance." British Art Studies 23 (2021).]
Copenhaver, Brian P. "Renaissance philosophy." (1992).
The renaissance was considered for a long time as a bright phase in Western civilization growth.. However, the particular contribution of philosophy to Renaissance culture has been dedicated to little attention. This book exposes the reader to the philosophy that has usually been attributed with the 'revival of learning,' read, taught, and discussed in this time. The author analyzes the relationship of Renaissance philosophy to humanism and universities, the effe...
