Admission Essay Instructions:
Hi Writer, I just saw I need to request more help as part of the course admission. Kindly let me list out the question, and my suggestions but feel free to make changes.
Question (250 words max):
Is there anything not mentioned elsewhere in the application, such as a personal challenge you faced, a success you worked hard for, or an obstacle you overcame that reflects your strengths and that you would like the admissions committee to be aware of? I will just request delivery of this additional question in the next 7 days in case you need more time to write.
- We know Harvard Graduate School of Education is to prepare education leaders and innovators who will change the world by expanding opportunities, and learn to change the world is their slogan, so for this question, there are 2 things I was thinking to focus on:
1. At the end of my previous admission letter, I did mentioned funding my family (see below).
As someone who had to work hard to fund my own education and that of my siblings, I believe strongly in giving every student the chance to reach their dreams. While my own academic performance in my Bachelor’s degree was hampered by my obligation to earn money to support my family, this only sharpened my commitment to educational justice.
- I wanted to emphasize that I am a Resilient person (personal challenge faced and overcome), Leadership (such as leading the entire project in Mastercard Asia Pacific), innovation (when providing an all-rounded solution), and collaboration as a team.
2. Related to blind institution (so in my story, i can tackle commitment to equity and inclusion)
3. For instance, recount a time when I faced a significant challenge in a leadership role, how I rallied your team to overcome it (e.g. clients gave us an impossible-to-achieve KPI, but we still overcome it), and what you learned about resilience and collaboration. If possible, this narrative will align with HGSE’s mission, that is to prepare for transformative educators and leaders.
Thank you
