The politics of reparation and apologies studies, social and political affairs which affected many people during the Second World War. It examines the dynamics and evolution of reparation politics and justice. The study focuses on various key terms, theories, and concepts related to social movement while placing special emphasis on the redress and reparations movement (RRM)CITATION Wol14 \p 132 \l 1033 (Wolfe 132). With regard to international criminal law and concepts of reparation, different countries participated in various roles in the effort to seek transitional justice. Also, there were some political efforts taken to obtain redress for the victims of the war. Crucially, in the wider perspective, there was a discussion on a comparative framework that led to a successful transitional justiceCITATION Wol14 \p 144 \l 1033 (Wolfe 144). As a result of the war, many countries became victims as the war impacted negatively on the citizens. This paper uses the same perspective to discuss the Rwandan Genocide and how the international justice system played a role in the reparation politics in the country.
Impact of the Western Countries
The western countries brought significant effects before, during and after the genocide in different ways. Before the war, countries such as Germany were involved in acquiring slaves, weapon and other necessary materials to help them in fighting before the war beganCITATION Lin14 \p 68 \l 1033 (Melvern 68). Many slaves were obtained from different parts of the world. This had a negative impact on some people, especially where the slaves were obtained from because the families were exposed to psychological torture and were left with much fear of whether their family members would survive in the war. Therefore, it was a challenge to such families.
Moreover, the physical separation made them more fearful since they were prone to attacks. All the weapons which were obtained in preparation for the war were used to train the war militants on how to fight effectivelyCITATION Lin14 \p 74 \l 1033 (Melvern 74). In the process of training and preparation for the war, some members got injured while others died. Hence, the pre-war preparation had negative impacts on the lives of those involved.
There were many more impacts of the western countries during the war most of which were negative. For instance, there was a mass killing of people. The war is said to be the worst war in history which claimed the lives of millions of people across the globe. Many people died in the war since their counterparts used superior weapons such as guns and atomic bombs which would kill a large number of people at one time. Most of the slaves who had not been fully trained were massively killed since most of the western countries had learned the tactics of fighting before. The western countries also impacted negatively on other states because they facilitated the destruction of property. Large companies were burnt down, and much property was looted. This led to a decline in the world economy since most countries lacked enough resources to run their citizens.
Additionally, the massive burning of crops was a big blow to the western countries and the world at large. It led to starvation during the war since people fighters had nothing to eat, something which was challenging to fight without proper feeding. The decline in the general economy as a result of the burning of these countries led to an increase in taxes by the affected countries so that they would raise money and stabilize their economyCITATION Lin14 \p 101 \l 1033 (Melvern 101). This was a big challenge especially to the common citizens because it meant a rise in the prices of commodities so that the government could get more money to finance its looted projects. The western countries had many impacts during the war, most of which negatively affected other nations.
After the war, the genocide some few western countries were positively affected because they had obtained much property which they looted from other countries and which they used to develop themselves. Some countries had obtained many weapons from their counterparts which they now began reselling, hence benefiting from the profits they madeCITATION Lin14 \p 129 \l 1033 (Melvern 129). However, there were some psychological challenges for the families whose members went into the war and never returned. This was a big challenge which saw many families losing their members.
Similarities and differences of the Genocide Evolution to Previous Case Studies
The evolution of this genocide was different from previous case studies in that it involved the entire world and almost all members in each country across the globe were affected in either way unlike the previous case studies were wars involved only one country against its members or a few countries. The use of atomic bombs in the Second World War affected the lives of many people in severe ways. The harmful gases released affected most of the people from different countries, and this explains why most people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki are born with physical deformities even up to dateCITATION Wol14 \p 75 \l 1033 (Wolfe 75). Also, the war affected the lives of those who did not participate because their family members died in the genocide, and their crops were burned, and the increased rise of taxes by their respective governments affected them unlike in previous case studies such as the Rwandan genocide which though severe claimed the lives of majority of the Rwanda citizens. Also, the massive destruction of property did not affect the entire world countries but only R...
