Dispositional and Social/Cultural Personality Analysis of Vicky
Personality entails the distinctive aspects that individuals possess, which define the person's thinking, behavior or emotions. Different domains exist through which personality aspects are analyzed. These domains include behavioral, biological, dispositional, cognitive, adjustment, social, and intrapsychic. In the analysis of personality psychology, we focus on two domains; dispositional and social/cultural approaches. Vicky’s personality, as a subject, will be evaluated using some of the personality theories.
The paper is about someone in my immediate social circle, Vicky, my girlfriend. Vicky spends most of her time of the day on her bed. She owns a table card game shop, and her job is to communicate with customers and organize them together for a 6-8 person’s table game according to their accommodations. The job can be done by completely using her phone, which has made the phone her best friend. Therefore, she will not go to the shop even though the shop is only a five-minute walk away from her home. Vicky enjoys interacting and creating new friendships through her job. She spends most of her spare time making video call with her boyfriend and watching series, social media, shopping online in the meantime. She enjoys drinking coffee when watching series. When she makes a video call, there is usually a cup of coffee beside her. Sometimes, she will go to a restaurant she spots on social media recommendation with her friend and have an excellent time before heading home. Although her description may portray her as a lazy person, the analysis will clearly illustrate her personality status.
Dispositional Domain
The first domain to consider in our analysis on Vicky is the dispositional domain. The dispositional domain relates to the personality elements that guarantee stability and consistency over various situations. These aspects differentiate individuals since people possess varying degrees of those traits. As we test Vicky's personality against the dispositional domain, we evaluate her characteristics to a dimensional approach's Big Five personality traits. The score of her Big five personality trait test predicts some aspects of her behavior and accomplishments. By refining her personality aspects, stability taxonomy is achieved after the comprehensive analysis of a list of five personality traits. These traits include; neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. Different examinations are conducted to measure relativity to the five-factor traits. The analysis applies a test scale that is accurate and efficient in determining Vicky's actual characteristics while relating to individuals in society.
To test Vicky’s personality approach, we use a personality test measure called the Big Five Model Indicator. The test measure is abbreviated as BFI. Various categories are developed to test the five traits dimensions when using the measure. These five dimensions relate to those who display extroversion, neuroticism, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. Each of these dimensions holds six facets, which gives it the defining features relating to the personality dimension identified. The stability of individuals over time is tested through this approach to predict their behavior. One challenge under the MBTI traits measure is that individual classifications consistently change; thus, the MBTI may fail to measure other new personality aspects. In this regard, our analysis will base on the BFI to analyze the dimensions and facets explainable of Vicky.
Vicky correlates to one sphere of the BFI model measure to is openness to experience. This is a measure of how an individual appreciates adventure, new ideas and philosophies, art, imagination, creativity, novelty, curiosity, and other experiences. Vicky has unconventional and distinctive decorations and art writings on display on the walls in her room. Vicky also has a bookshelf filled with different books from different fields of study. She portrays her openness to experience through her diverse music collection. Her love for restaurant adventures rates highly when she holds coffee talks with her friends. Since she does her job via her smartphone, she spends the better part of her day in her room. This implies that she hardly move out of her room when on the job. Using the BFI tool, a link for her constructs of traits dispositional tendencies will give a detailed and accurate measure of her personality. We discuss her openness to experience by evaluating the various facets related. The dimensional facets include feelings, ideas, Fantasy, actions, aesthetics, and values. We examine related specific aspects of openness and intellect to assess these facets.
