Introduction
The film begins as one character reports to The Godfather on the injustice which has been done to his daughter. He claims that he is a clean American but what his daughter has undergone from her Italian boyfriends is unbearable. As he weeps, he explains to the Godfather who he wants to initiate the justice to his daughter. The scene introduces the most significant theme of the film which is antagonism. The beginning scene of the movie is clearly foreshadows that in future, in the film there is a likelihood of arising conflicts as the father of the daughter will try to seek justice for her daughter. Even from his statement that he is ready to pay anything to see her daughter get justice, it clearly indicates that there will be conflicts between the two warring parties; the two Italian boyfriends and the superior’s enactors. From this introductory scene, it is also illuminated that crime is very prolific within the film society and it is done by the top rich individuals within the society. The difference in income levels makes it hard for the low class to get away with such crime as observed from the daughter’s father who is reporting to the Godfather. In the scene of the film we can also learn that there are some of the operations which are not even discussed openly to the clients. This is manifested when The Godfather whispers to his security in the presence of the client. It shows that they operate on secrecy and not all information is given out to the client. Though they are not in agreement as Connie is not clear on the decision but the daughter’s father is satisfied with the decision and appreciate as he moves out. The scene also expounds on the injustice when the two boys who traumatized the girl are set free with no charges.
The film "The Godfather"was acted back in the year 1972. It concentrates on American crimes which most of the aliens and the indigenous communities face while on their normal duties. The film was directed by Francis Ford Coppola. It was produced by Albert Ruddy. The staring characters who act as the leaders of the crime families are Marlon Brando and Al Pacino who are living in the New York town. The story takes place back in the year 1945-1955. It concentrates on family revolution from a reluctant family to being a very ruthless leader within the family and initiating crimes. The film is considered to be one of the best film in the world cinema considering the fact that it was very influential when it comes to the gangster genre design films. In the year 207 it was ranked by the American Film Institute to be the second best film behind "Citizen Kane". The film’s cultural, historic and aesthetic significance led to it being chosen for preservation in United States National Film Registry. In the year 1972 it was the Box Office leader. For a period not less than seven years it was graded as the highest-grossing picture ever made. In the same year the film won three academic awards. Due to the success of this film there was sprouting of other related films that is "The Godfather part II" in the year 1974 and "The Godfather Part III" in the year 1990.
Plot
On the occasion of the daughter’s wedding, Connie is requesting to be the leader of the New York Crime Family. After being in the Marine for several years, his young brother also in the same occasion presents his girlfriend. Investment on Narcotics idea was presented early in the year 1945 to Don Corleone due to that he had political connection which would help him secure this narcotic business. Besides Don being afraid of engaging on a dangerous business, he still engages in the business and accepts it. The suspicious Don sends out one of his trustee to go and spy for him in the market. Vito, the Spy, is gunned down. During the gunning down of Vito, Sollozzo kidnaps Hagen. Then Sollozzo uses Hagen to make deal with Don. Vito survives being gunned down and thus he coordinates the hit on the Tattaglia’s son whom they believe they were associated with the gun down of Vito and force them to a deal using Hagen. The family then gets a massage in form of fish wrapped in a bullet proof cloth which is an indication that Luca sleeps with fish. Michael then plans to kill Sollozzo and McCluskey.
The administrators, that is the police in the New York City, were trying to hold down the situation but they had no capability of controlling it. The five families erupt in war and thus the whole city becomes chaotic. Different individuals from different families run for their safety in different locations. In the first case for Sonny he hides in one of his friends in the Casino. Michael seeks refuge to Sicily. Sonny attacks Carlo for abusing her sister and treating her unfairly yet the government doesn’t react to that. Sonny threatens to kill him if he dare touching her again. Michael while at Sicily place meets a girl who he later marries. In their early stages of their marriage, Michael’s wife is killed by a bomb which was meant for him. Vito is in charge of the five families to manage their achievements. After realizing that the heroin business has rendered to the conflicts he decides to withdraw from the transactions and save the families from the conflicts.
Michael’s father and his brother have started getting weak and could not fight any more, Michael decides that it is his time to take control of the family. Michael comes in suggesting several changes within the rule of the families. He suggests that Tom is not a good ring leader at this time of war therefore he should be replaced. Moreover Michael states that Hagen should relocate to Las Vegas to relinquish the business at the place. Tom is disguised by the fact that he is very weak concerning the upcoming war with the families which is expected to be too harsh. As the film approaches to the conclusion Vito suffers from fatal heart attack. Don Barzini, later in the day of burial of Vito, calls for a meeting with Michael which concludes on the betrayal which Vito had forewarned about the families. During the Connie’s baby cleansing in the altar, Corleone assassins kill other New York Dons including Greene. All the murders are associated with Michael where Connie reverts the case to Michael.
