It keeps our bodies on the go and without it, survival is futile. There are countless dangers in terms of drinking bottled water. Likewise, the pros and cons discussed in the subsequent paragraphs will serve as a guide into choosing the proper type and kind of water that we buy in the market. This will prevent us from obtaining toxic or even poisonous water elements contaminating other drinking water. In these days, it is primordial that we are also vigilant and wary with the food and water intake we are getting everyday. How safe really are these bottled drinking waters that we are acquiring and drinking. Accordingly, drinking water is often filled with chemicals that might be a health concern after an intake of sufficient amount that could give drastic effects to the body. This paper elucidates on the various chemicals or toxins usually found or are present in bottled water. A thorough study of these chemicals and toxins will be narrated in the next paragraphs alongside the respective sources that will prove scientific evidence on the harmful side-effects of these chemicals. It is necessary that we are careful with the water that we are drinking, always keeping in mind that our health takes top priority. In addition, aside from the pros and cons, we will also further discuss on the organ systems that could be affected, the molecular mechanisms, compounds of carcinogenic as well as in the end of this paper, the recommended regulatory actions. There is a necessity to keep the concentration levels of these chemicals below the value of guidelines anticipated by the World Health Organization thus providing sufficient control on the chlorination of by-products. Although there is no definite answer as to the exact concentration of the substances in drinking water, it is urgent that the essence of nutrition in the water is considered during the process of the guideline development. In terms of chemicals found in water bottles, there are numerous harmful elements found in them if not treated or cleaned well. In addition, the research team of the University of Cincinnati (2008) stated that it is not really about whether the bottle container of the water is new or old but the toxins could be created and may arise due to the liquid’s temperature. One example of a chemical that arises from this process is the Bisphenol A, an exposure from polycarbonate plastic bottles. It is a risky chemical that could alter the endocrine system’s movements by mimicking the functions of the natural hormonal system of the body. Based on these two sources from legitimate researchers, schools and writers, that bottled water consists of several chemicals depending upon the process the water had to go through. The role of the manufacturers, marketers and factories is to ensure that the equipment they are using must be free from any forms of toxins and chemicals. The pros show that the process of cleaning per se is not the problem but the presence of chemicals arising from negligence of mixing the chemical elements during the cleaning procedure of the water.
