Mass Communication on Politics Name Institution Introduction Since ancient days, it has been rather clear that communication is among the vital constituents of any political activity. As a matter of facts, the widely known German-American political scientist called Karl W. Deutsche posits that politics is nothing other than communication. Trying to understand the connection between politics and mass communication can be traced all the way back to the days of the famous scholars and philosophers such as Aristotle, St. Thomas Aquinas, Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, and even William Shakespeare. However, in the recent past, most scholars have shown their interest in finding out the link between Mass Communication and Politics. According to Thompson (2013), Mass communication refers to the study of how individuals exchange or share the information through the use of mass media to wide segments of the population simultaneously. In other words, mass communication is a process whereby given information is dispersed expansively among people who are close as well as far extending places like throughout the country or globally. On the other hand, politics refers to a process whereby which single and collective decisions are arrived at (Bennett, 2016). It I also refer to an activity whereby goals and visions are agreed and achieved through set policies. The essay examines how Iraq affects the stability of the Middle East. It will also decipher the political aim of Iraq through mass communication and Language. The Role of Mass Communication in Politics According to Graber & Dunaway (2017), the current day media has played a great role not just within the political process of every kind, including coverage of big political events and other major institutions and electioneering process. Media has also provided many required information services and also provides possible self-enlightenment as well as a form of entertainment. Basically, currently many people are depending on the media as their source of information and for communication, purposes to keep them moving in the correct direction and also to conduct their day-to-day activities. Media is one of the things that people are treated with high regards since people are treating radio, newspapers, television, internet, and magazines as the basis for thinking and carrying out different activities throughout the world. Thompson (2013) posits that media has a prospective power to manipulate the people’s opinion, attitude, and behavior towards touchy issues like the gender parity, ethnicity, age, and race differences. This argument explains why most political leaders are using the media to sell their agenda to the mass in the political arena. In as much as media has played a positive role in influencing how things are done, it has also got some negative impacts. For instance, it has led to the degradation of behaviors and has been used to spread propaganda that has caused wars. Iraq is one of the countries in the world that have used the mass communication and language to affect the political situation in the Middle East, which has greatly affected the stability of the region. How Iraq Affect the Stability of Middle East Bensahel & Byman (2004) points out those terrorist activities that are currently being witnessed in most of the countries in the Middle East are as a result of the political situation in Iraq. In the recent, there has been an upsurge of the terrorist group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham that is wreaking havoc not only in Iraq but also in the neighboring countries as well. The activities by the ISIS have to the instability of that region. I regard to how the ISIS is conducting its affairs, it is crystal clear that it is well financed and properly organized. According to Gunter (2015), there are some political actions that are connected to this deadly group whose major motive is not well known. In fact, so far up to four Iraqi military divisions have been wiped out by the ISIS attackers. There have been reports in different media houses not only in Iraq but also internationally that have reported that the main goal of the organization is to establish the Muslim State right in the center of the Middle East. Should they succeed in establishing the Muslim state in the region, then there is a likelihood that the stability of the Persian Gulf stability, the political situation in the region, and also the economic backbone of the region of which, in this case, it is exploitation of oil. This would offer a safe landing zone for the terrorist that has been a concern for the stakeholders in the region including the United States. These terrorists have used the mass communication as a tool for spreading their messages that have made them be even stronger. They are using the internet mostly to spread their terror messages and activities in the region (Gulmohamad, 2014). The Impact of the ISIS in the Middle East The political situation in Iraq is ever changing as a result of the ISIS activities in the region. Cronin (2015) posits that the political and the military environment in Iraq has been just so volatile that it is highly anticipated that oil prices are...
