Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course Date Drinking and Driving Driving while drunk is a prevalent malpractice in the contemporary world. It is horrendous and selfish negligence that endangers the lives of people on the road and drivers who drive while they are sober. Though it is not a must for drivers to drive while they are completely sober, there is an amount of alcohol that is not allowed. Research indicates that the acceptable concentration of alcohol in India is 30mg/100ml. When drivers go beyond that amount; the police have a right to arrest them (Webb, Piper, and Bruce 516). As such, they get the required punishment and also some guidance on the ways they can ensure road safety. Social shaming, positive neighborhood relations, and revoking driving license and plate are critical practices that should be implemented in all parts of the world to reduce or eradicate the number of drivers who drive while drunk. Social shaming and revoking of the license plate is a critical strategy that can enhance the reduction of drunk driving. Mothers Against Drunk Driving enterprise in the United States supported the idea of publicly naming and charging people who were arrested driving while drunk. Such a strategy would embarrass people who are caught driving while drunk, which will help in reducing the recurrence rate as well as discourage other people from the act (Wordes 429). It would be a warning to other people for fear of negative public negative criticism. Also, revoking the license plate is another strategy that could reduce the number of drunk drivers. In the United States, the law states that the second conviction of drunk while driving can cost up to $10, 000 fines. If a person is convicted more than twice, the license is revoked for ten years (Webb et al. 522). Such a strategy is critical in reducing the number of drunk drivers...
