A Research Proposal on Sustainable Proposal
Introduction
Sustainable entrepreneurship is one of the critical aspects that entails sustainable development in business operations. Over the last decade, sustainable entrepreneurship has emerged as one of the key concerns among practitioners and academics. Historically, most entrepreneurs based their success on economic performance. However, sustainable development has become a critical tenet determining profitability and reputation (Kraus et al. 2018, p. 444). In the contemporary world, companies must uphold social and environmental roles to have a competitive advantage. Over the years, the current economic activities, such as industrialization, have led to increased rates of environmental pollution. Therefore, researchers have realized the need to explore the impact and value of organizations in society. Besides, organizations have extended value creation from just economic profit to cover non-economic gains, such as sustainable development.
Researchers have realized the need to explore the connection between entrepreneurship and sustainable development. Sustainable entrepreneurship is a mainstream that has gained attention among researchers from different backgrounds and perspectives (Ludeke-Freund 2020, p. 56). Therefore, research on the area is critical to understanding the most influential academic literature. As a result, academics can have outstanding knowledge of the relevant literature in the field of study. Initially, the survey of sustainable entrepreneurship was on business activities and environmental remedies. Over the last decade, companies have realized the need to focus on the impact of their endeavors on the environment. Therefore, entrepreneurs should be aware of the effects of their businesses on society. By considering sustainable entrepreneurship, organizations must assess the available opportunities in the market while adhering to the set ethical standards. Sustainable development is the most critical source of business opportunities and, thus, the need for potential entrepreneurs to identify sustainable business models.
Research Background
Sustainable development and entrepreneurship are interrelated concepts in expediting business sustainability and the attainment of core set objectives. In most areas, the collective impact of organizations is indispensable and substantial and, thus, the need for sustainable practices. According to Majid et al. (2017, p. 28), sustainable development is one of the significant business opportunities since the primary concern among organizations is the impact of business practices on sustainable ecology. In the contemporary world, most governments foster business growth and sustainable development. Therefore, organizations must focus on entrepreneurial activities that align with less depletion of environmental resources.
Top executives in organizations integrate environmental and social aspects in enhancing sustainable entrepreneurship. The main objective of sustainable entrepreneurship is to create a viable solution in the market while exploiting the available opportunities for sustainable development. Besides, organizations that uphold sustainable entrepreneurship are likely to develop possible market solutions while using the options that facilitate sustainable development (Konys 2019, p. 6749). In such a case, they counteract any form of degradation of environmental resources while addressing existing social inequalities and injustices. Sustainable entrepreneurship is a turn in management and organization activities in taking a holistic perspective on the contribution of organizations in the contemporary world. Researchers must explore the need to integrate sustainability in an organization’s activities to attain environmental value.
