Executive Summary
Better Life is a nonprofit organization whose aim is to provide reliable and regular free meals, showers, hygiene products, and first aid for people who may otherwise go without. The organization draws inspiration from various organizations that engage in such activities. As with my home area, California, many homeless people struggle to get their daily bread, and sometimes they go without. It is not a surprise to find out that some go without a meal at all for days, and they do not have access to showers or hygiene products and first aid. We are aiming to improve the lives of these people and ensure vulnerable people do not go hungry.
Since most of them live in public places such as bus stops, railway stations, and highways, we will be distributing ready meals and fruits to these places. To get the ready meals, we will seek to work with local restaurants to supply us with the meals. While our volunteers are serving meals, we also talk with these people about other information that can help them to get life back on track.
The majority of our customers will be the low-income elderly people, people experiencing mental health, and all the homeless, hungry people in California. Unfortunately, we are only facing completion from the “School Meals for All” program in California, so our completion will be limited. However, we expect an average annual growth of 15% over the next five years and would like to expand outside of California within our second year of operation. In addition, our extra effort to talk to the people and give first aid for free will differentiate us from our competitors.

Nonprofit Description and Vision
Our nonprofit organization is determined to better the lives of needy people by feeding them, giving them first aid support, and uplifting and motivating them. We also aim to better the lives of elderly people by supporting them in their daily activities. Our services will be offered free of charge because we plan to get our funding from willing people, churches, and state and federal funding. We want all our services to be easily accessible, so we plan to work with community groups to provide the needed services. For example, daily food and fruits distribution will be done to the homeless people in packed portions at the most accessible places in the streets. My research showed that NGOs are made up of registered organizations, groups in the community, and associations who work together to increase the wellbeing of members of a given community (Turner and Hulme, 1997). While our volunteers and staff are giving services such as first aid, we also talk with these needy people about information that can help them get their life back on track.
We will support older people to stay independent in their homes and connect them to their loved ones or communities. We will be making phone calls to the older people to check that they are doing fine and visit them regularly to drive them to medical appointments or provide friendship and support. According to my research, NGOs are specially equipped with professionals who help reduce human struggles and suffering (Streeten 1997). For this reason, we plan to seek support from professionals who deal with elderly people to assist us in handling older adults better.
To remain in a much more competitive position in the market, we want to offer our services in a more personalized manner where each individual will receive their help based on their condition or needs. Furthermore, to ensure the accessibility of our services and products, we will supply them directly to where they are needed.
Our vision is to gain a rewarding experience of working in the community by providing friendship and companionship to older people experiencing vulnerability and loneliness and the needy people in our community. We plan to expand our organization to the neighboring regions and eventually to the whole country. We are expecting that our organization will glow even despite the challenging startup operations. Our research showed that it is normal for most non-government organizations to face challenges during startup, such as not understanding the local situations, and they hire people with little or no skills who do not fit the roles (Rezaul Islam, 2017).
Description of Launch Product or Service
Better Life is planning to launch its operations in two stages since it would be unable to launch its operations all at once to get the program started. We have designed a business plan to guide us during our operations (Tiessen R., 2004). We remain determined to help the hungry and the elderly people in the best way and level best.
In the first stage, we plan to establish ourselves well in the market since we are new. Our research revealed that many people are not well familiar with non-governmental organizations, which makes it essential to educate them on the importance and the roles of such organizations in society.
We will get in touch with the needy people in the region and the elderly people through the help of the members of the community. Our research revealed that most people do not trust some non-governmental organizations because sometimes their transparency and accountability are often questioned, mostly in situations where they have lied to have represented the poorest and most deprived to make more money (Kaldor 2003). For this reason, we have to make it clear to them that we are a trustworthy organization and we are truly determined to help those in need. To encourage people to join our organization, we will manage the time set apart to manage those who volunteer. This management helps to predict the effectiveness of the program (Hager and Brudney, 2004). When we first launch, we plan to distribute our services to access more needy people randomly. Since most of our volunteers live and work within the communities, they will understand how to navigate existing barriers and get things done. This means that the meals and the services will make it into the hands of those who need them the most. We will be giving our services to every needy person we encounter until our target number is reached. We will also collect contacts and addresses of the elderly people who need help to link with them directly.
The second stage will take place once we are well established and well recognized in the market. We predict this to be around the beginning of 2022 because it is impossible to point out the exact day that the stage will begin. Better life services will shift into personalized services for elderly people, where we will deliver our services according to the person’s needs and conditions. At this stage, we will also have the exact number of homeless people that need our help. We aim to open at least one or two offices in the region in a room that we will rent for our customers to reach us easily when they need us. We will launch an official website where we will be posting our progress over time, which will help make us even more recognized.
Definition of Market and/or Community Served
Our target market is low-income elderly people who need assistance in their day-to-day lives and homeless, hungry people in the streets, including those with mental problems. This particular group of people is forgotten and sometimes goes through the unimaginable to meet their basic needs. We are seeking to work with the willing members of the community to gather data on such people inside their area and start giving help to those who need it the most.
We believe Better Life will be successful and supported by the community because our survey revealed that most community members believed that a non-governmental organization is essential in society (Brudney & Nezhina, 2005).
Many people would also be willing to join hands with us ...
