Abstract
The focus of this paper is to elucidate on the importance of health in terms of dental services and to assess how fluoride treatment works in the dental field. In the subsequent paragraphs, I will accurately and thoroughly discuss the pros and cons of this dental procedure with the support of primary and secondary sources that are peer reviewed and known to be trusted literature. The research method will also be explained in order to give a clear outline of how this research has been made since every detail will be discussed on the basis of scientific research. A hypothesis is emphasized and a definite conclusion elucidated at the end of this paper. As a researcher, I give an assurance to my readers that my research and investigation are all based on factual, medical, dental and scientific methodologies to give a correct analysis.
Researching A Health and Wellness Topic
Fluoride treatment is essential because it helps in strengthening the teeth. The therapy is commonly used on individuals with oral problems that have weakened the enamel. Fluoride supplements are recommended for use in children above the age of six-year. This treatment helps in the prevention of tooth decay. The same treatment can also be used on adults to treat the early signs of tooth decay. However, the right amount of fluoride needs to be used in the therapy. An excess amount of fluoride in the body can cause teeth damage and other health disorders. Most fluoride is obtained from underground water and can result in health complications without knowing the problem's cause. Therefore, fluoridate water's contribution to tooth decay is a health issue that needs to be investigated and solutions identified to reduce its occurrence.
Article 1
The randomized clinical research aimed to investigate the impact of two varnish formulas on white spot lesions remineralization in enamel under constant period. The study sample involves 116 children between the ages of 7 and 12 (Ferreira et al., 2009). These children had 45 active white spot lesions in their permanent teeth. There were two groups for both formulas. They were then subject to an application of the procedure four times a week. The city water from which the sample population was obtained that did not have fluoride. The only source of fluoride available to the patient was the fluoridated toothpaste and fluoride toothpaste. The research results indicated that the frequency of white spot lesion in both formulas changed their dimension category after the application of varnish (Ferreira et al., 2009). Three lesions showed no change, while one lesion increased in diameter. The study concluded that varnish formulas tested produced similar results after the four applications. Such results indicate the control and reduction of the white spots lesion for individuals that do not use fluoride water.
Article 2
The study's objective was to compare the Physical-chemical differences between teeth that were biannually treated with Silver Diamine fluoride and those that did not get the same treatment. Silver Diamine Fluoride is a liquid substance made of silver, water, fluoride, and ammonia. Data was collected from a sample of children of the age six. Six teeth had active carries while six others have arrested caries after the 24-month treatment (Mei et al., 2014). Micro-computed tomography examination showed an opaque on the arrested lesion. The Electrodiagnostic examination revealed a high intensity of phosphate and calcium in the upper zone than the active lesion’s inner zone. Also, scanning electron microscope examination revealed that the active lesion had exposed collagen while in the arrested lesion did not have exposed collagen. Moreover, Silver Diamine Fluoride application twice a year is very beneficial and low cost. After all the Transmission electron microscopy examination showed that the remineralized hydroxyapatites in arrested lesions, and the same appeared random in the active lesions (Mei et al., 2014). The study concluded that in arrested lesions, the collagens were protected and could not be exposed. A zone rich in phosphate and calcium was evident in the primary teeth's arrested dentin lesion with a Silver Diamine Fluoride application.
The articles chosen made me realize that the type of data collection method plays an important role in determining the effectiveness of the information collected. Some data collection methods might not be appropriate for a particular study, resulting in the researcher not having sufficient information needed to make conclusions. As well, the reliability of the sample helps in collecting reliable information. The ethical code and principles evident in the research are fair sample selection and scientific validity. These codes have made the articles reliable for use in the research topic.
Introduction and Area of Professional Concern
The world of health is divided into various parts but this research paper’s focal point centralizes on dental health. It is clear that we have to take care of our external body parts and see to it that we take in the proper amount of nutrients to prevent sickness or any form of disease. This holds true in terms of dental health concerns because a toothache felt in the smallest teeth of our mouth can cause tidal waves of pain and even bring about a stoppage of daily activities. Prevention is a whole lot easier and better than cure. Hence, the ultimate purpose of this paper. According to Kaplan, J., Myohanen, L., & Taylor, E. (2011) that countries vary in their traditional approach to literature identification and dissemination when it involves topics on health and issues on this subject matter are critical in terms of future development. Based on Frank’s (2019) investigation that the element called as Fluoride is a healthy mineral that strengthen the structures of the teeth and prevents tartar or decay. The hypotheses are that F...
