Relationship between Hip-Hop Society
Hip-hop is one of the critical genres which have a huge impact on society. The music genre was established in New York City in the early 1970s (Fuller). Hip-hop is popular due to its huge effect on culture and societal activities. Hip-hop is classified using four basic elements: graffiti, break dancing, djing, and mcing. The combination of the identified elements constitutes a full genre of hip-hop. Besides, the stated elements also have a critical role in shaping societal values. The paper addresses the relationship between hip-hop and society by focusing on various issues.
Issues to understand
There are key issues that every individual must understand to determine how hip-hop affects society. The major issue is its component. After having a comprehensive outline of what constitutes the genre, it is easy to understand how it influences the outcome of social and cultural practices. The other issue which must also be understood is the lyrical composition of hip-hop. In most cases, hip-hop is composed of coarse lyrics associated with legal battles (Andrews). Coarse lyrics are often intended to portray specific weaknesses in the legal society. The last issue which must also be noted to determine the effects of hip-hop in society is its influence on culture. A culture majorly defines a society.
