World Food Program
The World Food Programme (WFP) is a critical nongovernmental organization that was founded in 1961. Indeed, it is crucial to focus on WFP since the topic of the research paper is the world food program. The director of the United States of America (USA) food programs, George McGovern, was the one who came up with the idea of establishing a food aid program during the conference held by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1960. The United Nations (UN) backed up the idea, which resulted in the formation of the WFP. Since WFP was formed, it has helped millions of people worldwide, particularly by providing food to hunger-stricken communities. The UN supports the WFP fully. Besides, the food aid programs, the WFP also helps during other disasters, such as combating epidemics, improving maternal health, eradicating micronutrient deficiencies, and reducing child mortality. People should donate money to the WFP so that it can provide enough food to the hunger-stricken communities to promote their well-being, health, and bolsters their immunity to prevent various diseases.
For the WFP to eliminate hunger worldwide, individuals need to donate what they have to this world food program. In reality, no human can survive without food. Food is essential for the physical, psychological, and mental development of all people in the world. Without this necessity, individuals become prone to diseases and malnutrition. A country that does not produce enough food to feed its citizens cannot prosper economically. People perform constructive activities when their stomachs are full. Additionally, children cannot obtain relevant knowledge and skills at school when they are hungry. The beginning of the success journey for everyone starts by having nutritious meals, which facilitate rational decisions making since the body gets adequate energy. In that light, the WFP “assists 86.7 million people in around 83 countries each year” (Wfp.org). In other words, the organization ensures that individuals who do not produce food can get it to survive. Being the leading humanitarian corporation globally, it has changed and saved the lives of many people. For example, some countries, such as Somalia and Syria, where war has tattered the economy, the WFP intervenes to help individuals get enough food so that they can survive. Consequently, the WFP works with different communities to improve their nutrition and help them to be resilient.
Although hunger is one of the significant global problems that affects different parts of the globe, the WFP is committed to ensure that the majority of people have adequate food. Some of the nations affected by this issue can produce enough food to feed their populations. However, they are unable to do that due to conflicts that destroy their economies. The majority of individuals affected by this problem are those living in abject poverty, conflict-affected areas, and the ones residing in regions prone to drought and famine. Palko Karasz says, “An estimated 85,000 children might have died of hunger since the bombings began in 2015. Experts say Yemen has become the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, and 14 million people could soon be on the brink of starvation” (1). The statement above shows that the lives of many young individuals are at stake due to war in Yemen. In reality, the most vulnerable people during war are women and children. If these 85,000 children do not get adequate food, they will not grow well and might develop various diseases or disabilities associated with malnutrition. Moreover, their parents will be unable to provide for them since they cannot work when there are conflicts in the country. If such affected populations do not get food, many of the people might die.
The primary purpose of living is for people to help one another, particularly in getting enough food to sustain good health. Some of the challenges that people encounter can affect anyone. In reality, no one chooses the country or region where an individual is born. That is the reason why people should perceive others as their brothers and sisters and assist them in overcoming various challenges. Besides, one should handle other individuals in the same way that a person should want to be treated if faced with a similar issue. No human has more rights or privileges than others. The only thing that makes people to separate themselves from others is the difference in social classes. However, when the war occurs, it does not matter the wealth that an individual has since money becomes useless, particularly since the economy is destroyed. For this reason, if a person has enough to eat and is living a better life, it is always good to extend a hand to those who cannot afford food. God blesses and protects those who help others. He can also take away one’s riches if the individual does not assist others and instead oppresses them, particularly by misusing the poor people. As a result, individuals should always take care of others since they might be the ones begging for assistance in the future.
Furthermore, people should donate to the WFP to make the world a better place for humanity by promoting brotherhood and sisterh...
