Should Sex Be Taught In Public High Schools
I am going to addresses the issues whether sex should be taught in public school or whether it should not be taught. The intended audience for this discussion is my professor, classmates and school administrators. This is because these are the people who can bring about the necessary change in the lives of the teenagers and the school systems. The issue of sexuality is challenging to deal with especially with the teenagers who are mostly in high schools. However, in most cases the public high schools shy off from addressing this captivating issue with the young people yet it is a reality in life that they have to face and the decisions they make will affect their future life. Most of the teenagers in high school are unaware of the issues to do with sexuality yet at this age of adolescence development, they experience changes on their physical and psychological being. In other cases they are expected to make decisions to do with the acts of sex yet they are so illiterate or uninformed on such issues. The teenagers will have the opportunity to learn on the dangers of sex such as pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases and the possible ways to avoid such dangers as well as various birth control methods.

Therefore, it is vital to teach sex in public high schools because at this age the teenagers are going through physical and psychological changes that may provoke them to engage in sexual activities, hence it is important if they would be aware of the dangers and the possible ways in which they can prevent these dangers for their safety now and in future.

One of the major reasons why sex should be taught in public high schools is the fact that today many people are infected with sexually transmitted diseases and the only way to contract these diseases is by having sex, hence the significance of educating the young adults in schools early enough on such diseases. The best way possible to assist them is not just by preaching abstinence to them rather to teach them on the dangers that accompany the sexual activities and the possible ways or measures that they can use in order to avoid falling victims of the deadly diseases as well as the early pregnancies.

Secondly, friends and peers are not enough sources to educate the teenagers on the serious issues of their life such as sexuality and the human reproductive systems, however, parents do not find enough time to discuss these issues with their children and in other cases they are shy to openly talk about sex issues with their children as they consider it shameful to do so. This therefore, leaves the teenagers and the high school student prone and ignorant of the repercussions of sex despite the sexual pressure all around them hence leaving them to make uninformed decisions that affect their lives and the lives of the people around them.

Further, sex education in high schools goes beyond preventing the teenagers from conceiving and bearing children at early stages of their lives, but it is more of educating and preparing them physically and psychologically on the issues of human reproductive system and their health. Therefore, the best arena for the sex education is in the public high schools where the curriculum involves subjects such as biology that deals with the human reproductive systems and the health, this will create awareness on the teenagers and when they come of age they will not have much challenges or health complications because not everyone would make it to join university but high school education is mandatory to every child in America, hence ensuring that ev...
