Date     INTRODUCTION Policies are important to have in our lives. Fromm one civilization to another, policies alongside rules have been the major tools that have been implemented to keep societies in check. Without such rules or policies there would be chaos which would lead to disorder in different societies. Policing in different communities has been successful through the collaboration between the law enforcement agencies such as the police and the community as well (Community Policing Consortium). When only one side is involved, the implementation of the policies fails and this becomes trouble for both the members of the community and the police as well since both of them would have come short in the fulfillment of their responsibility in keeping the policies. Different emerging issues in the society have been the driving factors for the need of changing policies. Most communities require change to handle the different sets of generations accommodated in their surroundings. The maintenance of order and peace is also an important role of the policies implemented in a society. This paper examines how the changing of policies have influenced some communities and their aspects as well. POLICING IN THE FUTURE Policing is a sensitive issue that is affected by developments which have happened in this century. The major areas affected by policing are the enforcement of law and the control of crime systems. Each of the two areas can be improved by pluralizing the policies in the area and determining the appropriate role of the police respectively (Bayley and Shearing). In recent times, the police have been accused of not knowing their roles in the different countries that they serve thus their image has been tarnished by the waves of malicious acts done by them. Some of these acts include bribery wrong use of their power in handling situations. For this reason, some policy makers have argued that the police are in an identity crisis thus their organizational body needs to be restructured in order to keep up with the changing times within the community. Policing in many communities has been seen as a tool for creating visible agents that control crime either through governmental or non-governmental organizations (Greengard). Without these roles defined for them, the police will engage in the activities that they claim to protect communities from. The restructuring of the police is therefore an important aspect of policy change since the changing times should be approached appropriately. The policing role should however not be done by the private sector because it will be a step in the wrong direction by the law enforcement agencies. The main reason for this is that it will be considered to be policing for profit by the general public (Bayley and Shearing). It should therefore be an issue handled by the government. CONFLICT OF INTEREST FOR THE POLICE Within recent years, the police has been involved in major schemes that defy law enforcement. Schemes such as the war on drugs and the handling of illegal weapons have been under the influence of the police (Blumenson and Nilsen). One of the major reasons that the police is heavily involved in this matter is the quantity of their salary. Some of the police force members are greedy thus they look for alternative ways to supplement their income. They key people involved in these schemes are major ranking police officers. They command a large influence in the communities that they reside hence they provide free labor for the drug dealers by being involved in the drug circulation programs (Blumenson and Nilsen). Since members of the police force are not suspected at first to be involved in such programs, the blame goes to the minority involved in the drug dealings. In the process, the minorities involved in the drug dealings are the ones that get imprisoned leaving the major dealers out there in the police force (Greengard).             The involvement of the police force in drug dealing poses a conflict of interest to the police department(Community Policing Consortium). Since they are seen to be involved in the police force only to benefit from it, their trustworthiness drops because of the shame that they bring to the communities they serve. The profits they get help the community in no way and instead goes to enrich themselves. Such schemes shifts the roe of the police from “to protect and serve” to “policing for profit”. The image of the police becomes tarnished in the process hence the citizens don’t turn to them to handle any of their issues(Community Policing Consortium). CONSEQUENCES OF POLICY PRIVATIZATION Policing should be handled by the public sector instead of the private sector. The public sector handles the dimensions of policing better that the private sector due to the disadvantage presented to them by the initially developed policies.
