Introduction
Many individuals across the world believe that women and men are very different. They believe that men and women differ in ways of thinking, acting, and feeling. The way the two genders communicate is moreover a difference between them. Research has established that women and men communicate differently using body language. The difference in their communication is evident in dating, workplaces, and social places. There are some ways in which communication differs between men and women using body language. For example, men touch their nose repeatedly to show they are disgusted while women wrinkle their nose when they want to communicate that they are disgusted. Additionally, when women want to communicate to someone that they are worried and concerned about them, they hug them or hold their hand while men pat the backs of those people when want to show them or to communicate that they are concerned about them. Moreover, when men want to show defiance, they put their hands around their waste and point their fingers towards their crotch whereas women put their fingers pointing towards their back when they want show defiance. Furthermore, when women want to communicate they are happy about something they smile while men do not smile or make any facial expression even if they want to communicate that they are happy. Lastly, when men want to communicate they are stressed up, they touch their nose several times whereas women twirl their hair when want to communicate there are stressed up. Understanding how men and women communicate differently is important in dating, workplaces, and social places because one will not misinterpret what information the other person is passing and therefore better understanding and good relationships are created between people. Communication using body language differs between men and women because of culture, biology, purposes behind communicating, the personality of men and women, and influence from parents.
Culture is one of the reasons that make communication using body language different from women and men. For example, the culture of Chinese people dictates that men should not show any signs of weakness or be emotional, but rather they should depict strength and be less emotional. The culture has conditioned men not to express their feelings openly as it is a sign of weaknesses (Carol 2). However, the cultures of so many other people do not condemn women when they express their feelings openly and show emotions. According to many cultures, it is right for a woman to show a signs of weaknesses (Barrett, Mary, and Marilyn). Consequently, that is why men are found just parting the backs of people when they want to communicate they worry about them rather than being more passionate because the society expects them to act that way. On the other hand, women show affection and express emotions when they want to communicate that they care and worry about someone because they are not worried that they will be mocked for being weak. Culture is, therefore, one of the leading contributors to the difference between communication of men and women.
Diverse purposes behind communicating are moreover a reason that makes communication using body language different between men and women. The two genders communicate differently because men communicate to take care of some issues whereas women communicate to express sentiments and achieve closeness and good relationship with the people involved in the communication (Dheraj). Therefore, because men communicate to take care of some issues, for instance, to depict that they are bold and not moved by emotions, they rarely smile when they want to communicate that they are happy. Whereas women communicate for reasons of expressing sentiments and therefore that is why they always smile when they want to communicate that they are happy because they will achieve their purpose of communication. Moreover, men want to take care of issues of proving to people they have control over things and that is why they communicate while being less affectionate or involving emotions because they do not want to appear weak and lacking control over their feelings (Colley and Todd 382). However, women purpose of communicating is moreover to achieve closeness, that is why they communicate showing emotions, and affection because they believe closeness will be achieved through their way of communicating.
Influence from parents is moreover a factor that makes communication using body language different between men and women. The influence comes from parents and guardians where men take after the communication behaviour of their fathers whereas women take after the communication behaviour of their mothers. The way fathers and women communicate is very different and therefore when the two genders take after their way of communicating their way of communicating will be very different. For example, if a father rubs his nose to show that he is irritated or disgusted the sons will take after him and therefore they will also be rubbing their nose to communicate they disgusted. However, if the mother wrinkles her to nose communicated that show that is she is irritated or disgusted her daughters will take after her and therefore they will be doing exactly what their mother does when they are irritated or disgusted ( Holtgraves and Leaper). Consequently, a society that consists of males and female who communicate differently using body language will be created. Therefore, it can be established that that influence from parents is a reason behind the difference men and women communicate differently using body language.
Additionally, the personality of men and women ...
