China is the Biggest Foreign Policy Challenge to America Today
The foreign policy concept is a key aspect of a complicated reality in political science. A country’s foreign policy is a crucial aspect of the success and well-being of the nation. The sum of exterior relations steered by a self-governing actor like a state in their global association is a country’s foreign policy (Beach). A nation’s foreign policy is the outcome of years of efforts intended to answer state needs both national and international in the ideal way possible over some time. The American foreign policy is what the United States of America does in other countries. The foreign policy was majorly based on imperialism, which gave them a chance to spread their country’s authority and impact by armed power or through negotiations. America used colonization to gain natural capitals of other states and prolonged their market trading. China, the Dominican Republic, and Panama are some of the countries in which the United States used the imperialism policy (Cox and Stokes 384). Throughout history, the United States of America has been persistent with its national concentration by taking many diverse arrangements in foreign policy. Their different actions have resulted in both short and long-term effects. Overseas policy in the American plan elaborates how the state relates to other countries economically and politically. Some of the aspirations and interests of the United States in foreign countries are national security, economic concerns, and idealism. China and America have had their share of challenges in history, mostly because of communism. Communism has been considered as an opponent of democracy in the realm of nationwide government. The United States has a clear stand on both, simply claiming that communism is the worst form of governance and democracy is ideal and should be utilized instead. The Republic of China has been based on communism, and that has been an initial challenge to the Americans on their relations. The basis of the Chinese government was to prevent the country from exploitation by foreign parties (Cheng). With communism as an enemy of democracy, it was viewed as an enemy of the United States and any country that prospered as a communist nation was considered a problem towards America and democracies worldwide.
China and the U.S have a close association with a variety of things like their economy and politics. These two countries have the world’s largest economies, and this has a significant impact on the global economy. Although the US comes second as China’s most substantial trade partner, China has developed to be the largest trading partner in the US. The two countries are existentially competitive. Because of their competition, it would be impossible for the two nations to coexist in a meaningful way. This is a factor that will influence their future relations, which is in regards to all tools of national power (Bush). Their choice of interaction in the future will have tremendous implications for the American and Chinese allies. The allies would not want to have to choose between China and the U.S because they have relied on them for success and security, respectively. America’s foreign policy faces several challenges, and this is partly because of and their relations with China. With China increasing its military and economic regional power in the Pacific region, America feels more threatened because of its global supremacy and dominance on them. Recent trade wars between the two countries indicate that China has become the biggest foreign challenge for the United States of America.
America obviously possesses tremendous latent strength as both the world’s largest economy and greatest military power. However, China’s economic and military growth is rapidly eroding America’s lead. In 2008-2009, China experienced an economic crisis that worked as a breakthrough in their economy, and it has been the case ever since. Chinese development rates that are comparable to those of America are considered to continue for the next two decades, mostly due to their economic success and excepting the ruin of the Communist party. Estimates show that the Chinese economy will surpass that of the US by 2030, though it has already surpassed it regarding purchasing power (Cox and Stokes 384). The growth would be significant in reversing decades of American economic supremacy and Western global dominance. Managing such a change in authoritative balance needs vast standby of carefulness and limitation in the concerned countries. Responding and familiarizing with the forecast of the Chinese expansion is one of the main challenges for America in the twenty-first century.
The increased security spending and armed upgrading taking place in China have been characterized as aggressiveness, considering their careful, realistic, and sensible, practical considerations in the past. In 2011, China was only beginning to develop the aircraft carrier capacity (Cox and Stokes 384). Although past Soviet experience showed that it takes time to develop such military power, China's technology is hi-tech, which enables them to hasten the development of military grade machinery. This aggressive nature poses a challenge to the Amer...
