This paper provides the outcomes of unannounced theatre evacuation which involved one thousand and two hundred occupants. This happened in a performance which performed in Marlowe theatre. The authors explain the response behavior and the response time. This work used a log-normal distribution which is associated with the occupants’ geometrical location. The findings indicated that response time increased with increase in seat distance from the exit. The authors have used the findings of this study to propose a methodology which should be used when distributing response time in a theatre to help in evacuation simulation applications.

This article explains that theatres have continuously evolved differently depending on the productions which are presented there. Some of the stage arrangements which have been described include the proscenium stages; which are gently sloped making them appear raised away from the audience. In a theatre with a thrust stage, the audience sits on three sides, and sometimes the stage area may be square, semi-circular or half polygon. Also, in-the-round theatres, the audience sits around the stage, and the actors have to move round to engage them. Arena theaters are similar to in-the-round the only difference is that they are large and hold more people. Other theatres which have been explained include hippodromes, open-air theatres, promenade theatre and platform stages.

Theatre as a live performing venue
Over the years the theatre has remained to be one of the most remarkable arts in life. The theatre brings together people who are talented differently in one field to work together and portray a certain idea or concept. The live theatre performers use a combination of speech, songs, music and many others to pass on the message to the audience watching. They also incorporate the use of other elements of art including stagecraft such as lighting and painted scenery with the aim of enhancing the experience. The mind plays an important role as far as the theatre is concerned. This is because the largest part of art lies within the imagination that one has in the mind.
At the time of the play, the mind stimulates different strong emotions including anger, power, joy, bitterness and many others depending on the play. Any piece of the theatre takes place within a given period of time (Cavazza & Charles). It, therefore, implies that if an individual missed one scene they cannot go back to watch the same scene. Every piece has three parts which include the beginning, the middle and the end. In each of those parts, there is a concluding sentence which gives the audience an idea of what is likely to happen at the end of the play. The theatre is very interesting because it sharpens the wit of every person present. The thinking capacity of every person goes beyond what they can see in the play.
