Abstract
In order to have sustained and developed business, it is advisable to keep on assessing the kinds of business processes applied therein. This is termed as business process management. This paper discusses the aspects of business process management, beginning from the principles through which it is formed, general advantages and disadvantages, as well as those specific to Emirates Airline processes. The paper also evaluates on the Emirates airline, fishing out the typical symptoms of the business processes dysfunction within the company. The research conducted through qualitative analysis shows that business process management has placed Emirates airlines among the leading airlines around the Asian Pacific, earning popularity also in the entire globe. However, there has been symptoms noted for dysfunction of business process in the company where the competitors’ gain power through reducing air fare, an act that leads to transfer of customers to cheaper airlines. This shows inability to cope with the level of client needs.

Introduction to the principles of BPM
Business process management abbreviated as BPM can be well described as a methodical approach of making more effective workflow for an organization. The presence of BPM in any organization enables its capability to adapt to an environment that is frequently changing. Thus, a business process can be termed a set of activities or an activity suitable for accomplishing a certain organizational goal (Smith, 2013 p. 45). BPM mainly targets on reducing human error as well as miscommunication, focusing the stakeholders on the needs of their duties.
In BPM, the involved persons in an organization evaluate and then control the processes which are usually present. It is a very suitable methodology usable when crisis strikes, as it brings about certainty that the processes being applied are both effective and efficient, resulting to a better and cost efficient organization. Business Process Management entails a subset of the infrastructure management, which is an area of administration that deals with optimizing and maintaining equipment of the organization as well as core operations (Corallo, De Paolis, Ippoliti, Lazoi, Scalvenzi & Secundo, 2011 p. 204). In addition, Business Process Management is supposed to be a continuous activity of evaluating the processes involved, where the necessary actions are taken for improving the complete flow of processes. There are various steps followed in BPM and they include analyzing, re-designing and modeling, implementing, monitoring, managing and automating.
General advantages and disadvantages
Business Process Management contains various advantages to an organization. The BPM models are specifically very helpful, as the activities involved such as automating, modeling, analyzing, monitoring, as well as improving the processes of the business assist in getting tremendous portions of profits in less time. In addition, the models of BPM facilitate in visualization of the activities that are in an organization as well as business-to business transactions. The models of BPM visualize the flows of the process in the transactions of business-to-business as well as an organization. Furthermore, the Business Process Management’s models of data flow help to visualize the flow of data in business to business transactions and organization (Brocke & Rosemann, 2010 p. 62). The decomposition diagrams meant for business modeling or the data flow and process flow diagrams enables in visualizing the activities and process in a profound manner. The workflow of BPM assists in defining, executing, creating managing and automating processes in the organization and other business transactions in order to attain more productivity.
